Since it's slow...
We're planning to have C's birthday party on July 4 since R works on her actual birthday. I think we'll just invite our friends (a few of which also have children < 1 year old) and grill out.
What would you serve for food? On one hand, Pinterest gets me all neurotic and I'm sure I'm going to make cupcakes from scratch and exotic cuisine. Then, my realistic Debbie Downer side kicks in and I remember that it'll be insane at work and no one will *really* care if anything's fancy, least of all C.

Ks birthday falls around labor day so for her 1st we also did a BBQ with bbq chicken (shredded up a bit for kids, wings for adults), hot dogs, hamburgers, mac salad (from stephanie cooks - awesome and easy), baked beans
You do! Since you're pregnant and calories are of no importance, you must try her benchiladas (I top with some canned brown enchilada sauce too for more gooey goodness) and her orange chicken (a time consuming PITA but ah-mazing). YWIA.

I'll make sure I add these to favorites!
Oh on the subject of 7/4 1st birthdays, what about those strawberries with like white chocolate and the blue sprinkles? Or the cake that PW makes for the 4th?

Yes! I pinned those strawberries. I plan to make those for sure b/c they look easy and yum. I also want to do red/white/blue fruit kabobs with watermelon b/c she's a watermelon fiend. I don't know what the PW cake is. I'll go search her blog.
I came to expect it and the one year my aunt didn't make it and I got "birthday cake" instead, I pitched a fit! You know, because I owned the 4th of July and a birthday cake wasn't good enough.
Last year I made Annie's red velvet cupcakes a.ma.zing and sprinkled them on top with blue sprinkles. Red, white & blue!
(I swear I meant to click on ML but clicked here by mistake!)

I'm glad you clicked here! It might be fun to start a tradition for her with the 4th of July cake!
