Some shit went down in my Philosophy class last night! Okay, my professor is kind of scatter-brained and isn't always clear on stuff BUT she is nice and super easy.
Anyways, we got our midterm papers back yesterday and this girl threw a fit because she didn't know it had to be 3 pages (it wasn't in writing but she told us). And this ensued:
Girl: You didn't tell us it had to be 3 pages and it's not on our syllabus. Professor: (in somewhat loud voice) Don't start this shit with me, I know what you are trying to do. Girl: (in louder voice) I'm a straight-fucking-A-student! Professor: (screaming) I don't give a fuck! Girl: (stands up and walks over to professor) You just messed with the wrong fucking girl! Professor: (yelling) Get your shit and get out of my classroom!
Legit craziest thing I have ever seen. I thought my teacher was about to get punched in the face. About 10 minutes later the Dean walks in and takes my professor out of class. We finished our midterms and left. Everyone was like did that just happen!
And I determined that confrontation makes me extremely uncomfortable and nervous.
I can never understand how people write a decent paper on any topic in less than 3-5 pages, and I'm a really concise writer. I've just never been able to adequately explore any subject in fewer pages than that.

Right? Sometimes it takes a stretch to reach 5 pages, but I've never had a problem getting to 3, especially in MLA format.
Part of me thinks girlfriend wanted to start trouble.
There is so much about this is weird. Why did the professor get so upset and if this girl is a straight a student then how did she miss that the class was told how long the paper has to be. Maybe they had issues before this scenario? That's my guess.
It was so insane and weird. I wonder if she is going to get fired?
I mean really it's not that hard to write a paper. And if you don't know how many pages it should be...YOU ASK. I feel like a lot of people at my school treat it like it's not a "real" college and it kind of pisses me off. Another girl told said teacher that she was going to take the midterm the next day because she had to work at 5am. My teacher said no you are taking it now like scheduled and the girl gave get attitude. Wtf people?!

How the fuck do you write a college paper in less than 3 pages? I'm extremely terse, to a fault, but you need at least 3 to do anything more than a book report.Even in my science and engineering classes we often wrote 10+, and those are not particularly verbose disciplines.
Huge side eye to a professor yelling. I excuse the language because, come on, you're all adults, but to go straight to yelling? Someone's off the meds.

That was my thinking too, of course my brain took it to a whole different level until I read about the person trying to postpone their midterm. If stuff like that is happening very often it's no wonder the professor is a bit surly. I would be too.
Are any of the policies pertaining to these situations outlined in the syllabus? I attended a community college for my accounting certificate where in every single class the professor would go over the syllabus in detail. Of course I was lucky that my classmates took themselves quite seriously too.
This was all addressed in the syllabus (make up exams, etc.). People in the class just don't take her seriously I guess. These are the same people that leave the class 1.5 hours early, don't read the chapters, & complain about everything.
