Has anyone washed dry clean only bedding and it came out okay? I really like the hotel collection calligraphy bedding at macys, but it says its dry clean only. It is cotton/polyester. The shams are machine washable but the coverlet and duvet (which match the shams) are dry clean only. Am I just crazy for considering it ( I have a 16 month old)? WDYT?

I can relate. I usually fall in love with dry clean only bedding. I had dry clean bedding that was just beautiful when I was single, but was too chicken to try washing it. I wouldn't. I think it is so stupid that so much bedding is dry clean only.
I have a duvet cover that is dryclean only, and I wash it on delicate and hang to dry. It's fine.
But if it had any sort of embellishment I probably wouldn't. mine is just plain poly-cotton blend, and I saw no real reason why it needed to be dry cleaned. It hasn't been a problem yet. But it also wasn't very expensive to start.
Dry clean only bedding is ridiculous. How can people sleep in bedding like that and then pay to have it dry cleaned weekly? I think that's nuts. Especially when you have a pet. Our dog is small but a hot mess on most occasions, tracking wet/dirty paws across the bed.
I have had several duvets, comforters, and down comforters that were dry clean only and I did machine wash (gentle) and tumble dry and they've all turned out fine.
Thanks for the replies ladies. I haven't felt the fabric in person, but maybe I'll order it and try to guess if it will wash on gentle. Its just a cotton polyester blend.

I don't think most people wash their comforters weekly. I have never heard of that anyway.

I don't wash my comforter that often as we rarely use it. It's mostly just for looks when our bed is fully made.
If I have made the bed (which rarely happens) I turn it down by folding it in half and then half again towards the end of the bed before we get in the bed to go to sleep. And that is where it stays. Plus we don't have little ones or fur-babies.
I have washed dry clean only comforters that have gotten lumpy in spots from the filler. Luckily the lumps disappeared over time.

For cotton/polyester I would absolutely wash cold (handwash cycle) and line dry. Tumble low if I was feeling adventurous and just didn't care if it was ruined. I wash dry clean clothes all the time. Obviously not everything can be washed but companies sometimes are overly cautious with the labeling.
I would never buy bedding that was dry-clean only. That said, unless there's some sort of detailing that's delicate, I don't see why a cotton-poly blend could be washed and dried.
