I really like the Skip Hop Versa and Studio bags, but I'm not sure if they're big enough. Anyone have any opinions?
Preferences: -under $150 -NOT messenger style--I hate anything with a flap over the top -would like to carry it as a shoulder bag -I don't mind pattern, but something fairly neutral and not obnoxious -More purse-like, less canvas backpack-like -easy to clean -we're cloth diapering, if that makes a difference

We have this one, but it doesn't fit most of your criteria. I wanted a bag that both DH & I could carry that didn't look either girly or like a diaper bag. We also CD and it seems to have plenty of room. However, it look like it is discontinued.
I looked at smaller ones, but wasn't sure that I could fit too many CD's + a wet bag for a long day. At one point, I was actually using a small messanger bag as a diaper bag, but switching between the two was a PITA.
You might check out Storksaks. On the recommendation of another mom friend, I bought one for a friend on sale, I think I paid $80 with shipping, and she loves it. It's very cute - you'd never know it's a diaper bag - but it has insulated bottle pockets and lots of space.
You just missed out on a Kate Spade sale, I got a Stevie diaper bag for $130. It fits all your requirements.
I replaced my Petunia Picklebottom because it wasn't the best for CDing and I was sick of the obnoxious pattern. It held up really well. I'm going to list it on craigslist if anyone is interested.

I have a Skip Hop and I love it. The size was perfect for me. I actually gave away all my larger diaper bags, even my really nice one. I found it fit better in the stroller basket while leaving room for other stuff and I really made use of the ability to hook onto the stroller handles when we moved to an umbrella stroller. It also made me really think about what I needed to include in a bag so I wouldn't overpack and have to lug around a really heavy bag.
I was anti-expensive diaper bag w/#1, so I went economical and practical with the Skip Hop Dash, and it didn't disappoint: cute pattern, sturdy construction and good organization. It's still in nearly perfect condition after a couple years of use. It was sufficient for one baby and I was happy with it.
On the other hand...I'd recommend the Stevie, too, if you can get in on a sale.

...this is a good idea, if you can get in on another sale.
Shortly after #2 was born, I realized the Dash wasn't cutting it size wise with both kids still in diapers. I treated myself to a non-MM Stevie and I love it. It's a little heavy, but I don't care: I can pack it to the gills and it can (sort of?) pass as a large handbag. Love.
I have a Kate spade Stevie and I LOVE it. I got it on a sample sale and it was $180 so even then more then you were looking to spend but it's a perfect bag for me

I have a Skip Hop Duo in the Jonathan Adler chevron print. I never knew I could love a diaper bag so much. It has a ton of pockets and I can fit an enormous amount of stuff in it. FWIW we cloth diaper too. I can fit several clean and dirty diapers, two outfit changes, a wet bag, burp cloths, an extra blanket, toiletry items, toys and all the stuff from my purse with room to spare.
I have the skiphop Duo which is just OK to me. I don't like that it doesn't close across the top with a zipper so I have stuff constantly falling out. I do like how it attaches to the stroller, though.

if you really like big - the Petunia Picklebottom weekender is awesome. I LOVE mine - i use it for a carry on bag when i travel... and have used it as a diaper bag for all 3 kids, too. I like big bags, and it's nice and big with great pockets inside- and looks like a purse, not a diaper bag.
I get a new diaper bag a couple times a year... i have had many i have loved - various prices... but the PP Weekender is one of my favorites.

I have this one and it was I think $50. I just didn't feel like spending a ton, it wasn't worth it to me. It has lots of pockets and compartments and a zip top and it hooks to the stroller.
Definitely the Kate Spade Stevie. (I got the handbag to match too, later on.) I only paid $164 for it (so just a little bit higher than your price point, originally a $400 bag)--went to the outlet and it was on clearance there (somebody had recommended it on my BMB on TB). Great as a shoulder bag, and came with an additional strap if it ever is *so full* that it's feeling tight on the shoulder w/ the double rounded straps.
I looked at the skip hop versa and really liked it but I wanted the flap so I got the dash. It is actually pretty big and when I tried it out it held almost the same amount my cheapy Carter's one did.
