I know some places charge for them (our children's hospital does). At the regular place I go for ultrasounds hey just ask if we want a picture and print it.

I've always just been handed them at the end of the u/s. At the end of my a/s, the tech put on the 3d and took a few pics for me. She wasn't printing them during the regular part of the exam. I think it was an extra (she was really sweet). The same with my NT scan. The tech did all of the measurements and then printed out a profile pic when she was done.
With my first pregnancy, I got a CD with all of the pics on it each time I had an u/s. However, my H didn't want to know the gender, so he wouldn't let me look at the CD's until after the kid was born. By then, I didn't really care any more!
