I gained 34 pounds. I think it took about 3 mos to lose. I'm a bit hazy but I know I was fitting into my smallest jeans by then. I know I was down 29 (what my dr had as my final gain) by my 6 wk appt, because he gave me a hard time about it. What did I do? Bf and have ppa/OCD.
I really think so much of pp weightless is pure luck. My dr warned me to some women held onto weight until they weaned, but that wasn't the case for me. He also said that he saw 6 mo being the magic mark for a lot of people.
Oh and to be clear, my stomach is nowhere close to the same. I am small and I'd guess that I look 10 lbs heavier than I used to because of my poochy tummy.
Gained: 34 Lost: the first 20 i'd say in the first 2-3 weeks, then it was about 1-2 lb loss each week. I think I'm about 5 lbs heavier than pre-preg at 4 months but still breastfeeding and my boobs are now a C/D when I was an A before. How: breastfeeding and walking on my mat leave.
Edit: I was in most of my prepreg work pants by 12 weeks but they didn't fit the same. I think everyone is different... some people will hang on to it and some will drop it without much work.
Gained 34. Lost all of it by the time I went back to work.
I continued to lose another 10 or so over the next year. I lost it all breastfeeding. After DS was a year or so, I started working out and lost another 5 lbs or so. I'm 2 years PP and about 15 lbs below my pre pregnancy weight.
With Jack I gained 35 lbs. It was all off by 9 months pp. I really didn't start losing until I weaned at 4 months. I only dropped like 15 of that from birth.
With Leo I gained 20 lbs. but I was already 10 lbs over my idea weight. So now that I am trying to lose I count 30 lbs in my head. I just weaned him at 5 months and I have 18 lbs to drop. I feel pretty confident it will come off in the next 4-5 months.
With both boys I didn't lose a lb from nursing. I am positive my body hung onto weight.
What helped me was starting my healthy lifestyle of eating right and working out. But really you are moving so much with a little baby. Walking around all the time holding him/her, bending down constantly, carrying a carseat etc. It was really easy for me to lose it just because a baby makes me much more active. So my advice is just carry your baby a lot. :-)
I gained 20 pounds and lost it all within a week. Of course, while the number on the scale was the same, my body looked quite different. 4 months pp and I pretty much look the way I did before pregnancy, except with massive nursing boobs now.
I think breastfeeding helped me lose it, but also I think I just got lucky. I can't really claim to have worked at it or done anything special.

I gain 25 pounds. I honestly do not remember when I got back to pre-pregnancy weight, but it was well before nine months pp. I currently fluctuate between 10-15 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight.
I attribute it to breastfeeding. I admit I am a little concerned about what will happen when I wean. I would be okay with gain 5-10 pounds, but I would not want to gain much more than that if I could help it.

Gained 40lbs and lost 35lbs. I haven't really been doing much to lose the last 5 though. Heck, I didn't do anything to lose the first 35lbs. All that being said, my body shape is way different and I don't expect a more accurate picture until we wean.
Starting Weight about 200 Gained 35 Lost about 5-10 after Gained 10 or so while breastfeeding Went on WW and lost about 10 Finally stopped breastfeeding lost about 25. Down to 190 Stayed there for a 2 years (with working out and calorie counting) Started Paleo/Primal Eating in June 2012. Lost 20 more. Final weight 170. I am at a happy place at this point.

DS: Gained 50. Lost 30 at 6 weeks. Lost the rest by 5 months pp by eating 1400-1500 calories a day and exercising 5 days a week.
DD: Gained 35. Down 20 at 6 weeks. Still there almost 7 months pp. I've started tracking calories a few times and exercised for a couple weeks, but haven't kept with it.
I think it was easier with DS because I was working and DH was deployed. I went straight to the gym from work every day. Since I didn't have to cook for anyone but me, it was easy to make small, healthy meals. It was also easier for me to avoid snacking at work than it is at home.
Gained 40lbs and lost 40lbs The first 30lbs came off in the first month but my clothes didnt all fit due to a change in my shape- wider hips and poochy belly. The next 10lbs came off over the next 6 months with walking a lot with the baby.
Then I go up and down 5 lbs due to illness. My stomach is flattish on a good day. Today, I am rolly-polly. I am one year out and happy with my body in clothes. My boobs are saggy and I didnt breastfeed and I am only a B cup. Figure that out.

I gained 33 and lost most of it by 6 weeks pp, and lost the rest by the time I went back to work (3mo) though my hips did not go down until more like 5 mo pp. I am 8 mo pp now and feel mostly back to normal. When I got pg with dd I was 5lbs above my normal weight bc of eating my feelings after having a m/c. I've lost a little more, so really total I gained 33 and lost 43 or gained 38 and lost 43 over a m/c and full term pregnancy, however you want to look at it.
All BFing, genetics and a bit of walking. Mostly luck. I am not the same shape though, and my boobs are completely jacked up. Turned out better than I expected though! I was just hoping to not still be in maternity pants when I went back to work.
I gained 45 pounds. Lost about 30 pretty quickly without really doing anything (I didn't breastfeed). I started Weight Watchers and lost the other 15 by the time DS was 6 months old.
DS is 20 months now and I've put that 15 back on I'm on Weight Watchers again and have lost 2 pounds this week, so I'm hopeful that it will be as easy this time around. I would really recommend Weight Watchers, it's an easy program to follow.
With my first, gained 50 and slowly lost 40 by the time I went back to work after 14 weeks. Breastfeeding didn't really do much for me weightloss-wise. I weaned when I went back to work and immediately lost 5 pounds. It took another 6 months and a stomach bug to lose the last 5.
Second time around, I gained 45 and lost it all by 4 months plus another 5 pounds. For some reason, breastfeeding helped me lose weight that time, no clue why. I could eat everything in site and still lose weight. Once I weaned after 13 months, I gained back those extra 5 pounds in about 4 minutes.
Gained 50lbs with both PGs. Lost it all and then some both times. The first I just ate healthy. After the twins I did Jenny Craig and then just watched what I ate. Neither time did I do more than walking for exercise.
I gained 40 lbs with #1, 32ish with #2, and 25 with #3. I lost all of it by my 6 week pp check up all three times.
What helped? Crippling anxiety and no appetite after having #1 (trust me, you don't want that lol) and terrible nausea with #3 (so I didn't end up gaining as much with her. Trust me, you don't want that either ). With #2, I did have to put forth some effort to lose the weight. I think breastfeeding may have helped a bit too, Idk. That's what everyone says anyway.

I gained 40lb. It melted off after M was born. At 3w pp I was down 35lb, at 6w pp I was down 45lb. Now at 9.5mo pp I'm down 70lb.
I didn't do anything except breastfeed. No dieting & very little exercise... unless you count carrying my little man & occasional walks around our neighborhood.

I gained 45lbs, lost about 25 by my 6 week check-up. Took almost a year to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. Though it's not the same, everythings shifted into a different place and my once always flat stomach has a pooch now. Granted I haven't done any excercise to try to change it yet. DS is 18 months old now and I hope to start excercising soon, I finally feel like I have some time to do it.
ETA: I did very little to help with the weight loss, it just kind of happened.
I gained about 40lbs. I was lucky that most of it was baby and fluids so I was down to only 8lbs above my pre-pg weight 2 days pp. By 2weeks I was at my normal weight.
THEN I started eating cookies ravenously (thanks EBF!) and put 8lbs back on in a month
Once I started snacking more consciously I lost the weight and at 4 months my pants fit again
DD1 - gained 15lbs, lost 25-30 by 3m pp - mainly due to stress, pumping and actually moving my body after bedrest. So not healthy DD2 - gained 40, lost 35 by about 6m pp - mainly due to BF. then lost another 15 in the last 4 months due to running and adderall.
Gained 30 pounds. Was so swollen after giving birth (and i didn't even have IV fluids) that I weighed the same when I got home 2 days pp. Had lost about 15 lb by a couple weeks out (after the fluid settled). Lost it all by 4 months. Lost 10 more lb by 6 months, leveled off there.
How: Breastfeeding, moderate exercise, trying to eat not too crazy

#1: Gained 33 lbs, lost 20 in the first few months trying to eat sensibly. Lost 10 more with WW. Kept on 3 or so, #2: Gained 30. 5 months out, I'm up about 7 from prepregnancy, but have been doing WW and lost 10 of it from that.
I do not easily lose weight from breastfeeding. I have to follow WW strictly (with the added breastfeeding points) and lose under a pound a week.
Unfortunately I started the second pregnancy up about 10 lbs from where I was the first time. I had gained some weight with a pregnancy and difficult miscarriage in between the two kids. I'm currently about 7 lbs from normal BMI and 17 from where I would be OK with my weight. I'm rocking a squishy belly and wide hips. Not too happy with my looks right now. I'm sure it doesn't help that I don't put any effort into dressing myself or do anything other than wash and comb my hair.
DS1 gained 47lbs, lost about 20 right away in the first month or so. Lost the rest by 8 months PP by breastfeeding and running.
DS2 gained 42lbs, lost all of it within 5 months breastfeeding and running again.
Kids are 19 months apart so a couple months after I lost all DS1 weight I got pg again. I was SO glad I'd worked on getting back to my pp weight the first time so I didn't wig out about gaining more. Mentally it helped me relax.
