If we get pg this cycle, we are ordering custom fortune cookies with "Someone you love is going to have a baby." We recently visited San Fran, which is the birthplace of the modern fortune cookie, so we would include them with the other souvenirs that we would deliver when we see the family for Thanksgiving.
We are a ways off, but already have our announcement ideas! We get together with both sides of the family often for dinners that always involve an exchange of "stuff." Usually magazine pages, candy, souvenirs from recent trips, etc. So we will bring a small bag of baby items for each person: "World's Best Grandma" mugs, pacifiers, "I love Grandpa" bib, whatever.
I get nervous and turn beat red when people look at me to "announce" stuff, so a method where I don't have to talk will be best!

Dh sent me a picture a while ago of how he'd like to announce--a picture of the couples feet, with two empty baby shoes lined up next to them, and the caption can either say "Coming in November" (or whatever month you're due) or, the other one he liked, "We're expanding by two feet!" He was so excited about it, I'll probably just go with it. lol
I don't really care about announcing. I mean, I'll be excited to tell people, but how we do it doesn't matter to me.
We're starting to try in December. If by some miracle, it happens right away, we'll wrap some kind of Christmas gift that tells the news (we're telling our parents right away). Otherwise, my parents have us over a lot for dinner and we tend to bring dessert. When it happens, I'm going to order a cake that says, "Congratulations, Grandma and Grandpa!"
DH's parents live across the country and we will likely have to tell them via Skype. I plan to take a screenshot when we tell them so we can put it in our baby's album.
For DH, who's about to get his pilot's license, I bought a baby outfit on clearance for $1 that says Daddy's Co-Pilot.

I have no clever ideas because right now I feel like I'm the only un-pregnant person in the world....which is stupid because duh, you guys are in the same boat. And that's just stupid talk. But other people here are quite clever and I may have to be clever now too...
