xp: Vegas or NYC

The first wknd of May 2013 is H's birthday (and my bday is the following week). The beginning of the year is going to be rough (I have to take my Professional Engineering Exam in April and study A LOT for it prior to).

To have something to look forward to, and also to make up for the fact we won't be doing any international trips; I'd like to surprise H with a trip to Vegas or NYC.

We'll be 27, like food and like drinking, museums, people watching, etc. We'd likely go Th-Sun or Fri-Mon. Given the time of year, which would you recommend?
