I was just looking for a Halloween costume a week ago for the first time in a good 20 years, and I was shocked and appalled at what was available for women, let alone girls. Adult Mart would be ashamed to sell outfits that tasteless.

It is not only costumes it is clothes in general. Over the summer I had to find a dress for my 13 year old. It was hard to find a dress that didn't show boob crack or her behind when she bent over.
Everytime I take her shopping I am mortified with how much a prude I have turned into.
The whorish costumes are what you find in the stores. We usually try to find the ones that cover the most, and add a winter jacket and pants underneath, which kills the skanky factor pretty quick.
The difference in the 80s is that most moms made the costumes. Now, except for a few super awesome moms like frkls, who has time for that shit? My mom would have bought the whorish premade costumes too if they existed then. Instead the premade costumes consisted of a plastic bag and a plastic mask, so she made them. (Who remembers those??? lol)

Yes! I was just talking about this with a co-worker! It would be a Barbie costume, with a logo on the smock. Then you add the super scary plastic mask. Hah.

Oooh I do! I was an awful looking my little pony when I was 4, lol. (side note, I'm also a my little pony this year, haha)
L wanted to be a devil this year. Then we looked at the costumes. Now, I know I can make her one, but the ones in the store were so inappropriate she opted to be a vampire instead. Awful!

I think they purposely found the most demure 80s pics and the most whore-ish 2012 pics they could find. We've also been out a bit and haven't seen anything scandalous yet.

My mom and I were just talking about those crappy bag/mask 80s costumes this week! My son begged me to be a bat, so I made his costume, and mom said how she used to love making ours, and never wanted us to wear those icky plastic masks. Then she told me that her grandmother used to tell her that store-bought costumes were for poor people People born in the 1880s said some crazy stuff.
