I don't care how long you've been connected to the military- when you look out your window and see fighter jets (or whatever their called. We're Army, not AF!) doing rolls and formations above your head, you smile.
Haha a friend of ours has a bumper sticker that says "I hate jet noise". It's obviously a joke (he's an airframer and hears it all day/everyday). I find it amusing.
Just the other day we were at a Naval Aviation Museum and a Blue Angel took off nearby and flew overhead. My husband said "No wonder those guys are arrogant. Everyone stops what they're doing until they are out of sight. Doesn't matter if you drop your kid, rear end someone, or trip over a curb." I couldn't help but laugh because I was nursing my 10 month old and even she stopped what she was doing and was mesmerized by what she saw.
We lived near/on Camp Pendleton for a good 7+ years while the hubby crew chiefed the Hueys. Always loved when they passed over our house! Noisy bastards for sure, but I'd go into full tourist mode every time. Grab the camera, run out, get a quick film. Also Cobras, 46's, and now and then an Osprey or a C-5 Galaxy. I'd stop whatever I was doing too. XD

I used to live at the end of the flight line at Dover AFB. The C-5's are insanely loud!

H does the same thing I do. I think he's earned that right after working in a hangar on the flight line at a fighter base for years. If he had that bumper sticker, it would be for real.

You are right though!
When I was at Nav School in P'cola, i lived just outside the back gate to the NAS. The Blue Angels did their practice show right over my apartment complex. For two years. It NEVER got old:-)

It must be because we're liberals
Haha luckily we don't hear it too bad at our apartment so he just heard at work. I almost never hear it thank god. I do like to mess with him though and tell him "its the sound of freedom". The look I get from him and his buddies is priceless.

LMAO My line is usually "Merica!" ahahaha
I am biased to the big airplanes. Although H's plane is no where near as glamorous.... its old as hell... the mission is a perfect fit for him. Most people outside the Military have no idea about his airplane or mission so he enjoys teaching people.
