Hi all! We're planning our first vacation in about 5 years - so it's been a while since I've bought airline tickets! I set up a Kayak price tracker alert, and have been checking the airline website daily for price changes. I noticed that Kayak has shown two huge price dips in the past week - but I haven't seen any changes in price! Am I missing something? Do they change for a few hours sometimes? Is there a certain time of day I should be checking prices?

Prices go up and down on a daily basis like the stock market. Tue. and Wed. are generally better days to look at prices especially at lunch time or late at night. Also flying on days OTHER than Fri. and Sat. are cheaper. I use Yapta to track prices and also to track if I can get a refund after I've bought the tickets.
Sometimes they are brief changes. I'm not sure how you have your travel alerts set up; but try to do them daily. Like pp, I use Yapta and have it selected to notify me immediately if there's a price drop
I sometimes get 2 emails a day for the same route. For example: MKE-SFO $314, then later, MKE-SFO$287 so they must change throughout the day too. But they could also be valid on different days, like one is last minute and the other isn't.
