The people I work with are allowed to smoke at work and even though I used to smoke, its really starting to bother me. Some days are worse than others but today my allergies are already bad and the girl I work with has had 3 cigarettes while standing in the open doorway. Ugh, I so wish smoking was not allowed here. Sorry, rant over...
I'm the same way when I go to my mom's house. I lived with her for 21 years of my life and was around smoke but the 2 years I've lived with my husband and out of that house, I can't STAND cigarette smoke. I always leave with an allergy flare up.
It's allowed here, but our insurance charges you an arm and a leg, if you are a smoker, so most people don't. It was really bad when we had KForce (headhunters) in our office building because they would smoke all the time in the garage, because it was the only place with cover from the elements around our building.
The least they can do is smoke outside with the door shut! They should be happy they can smoke there at all. And this is coming from a former(ish) smoker.

Here you have to stay more than 100 feet away from the entrances, so they put the smoking section in the way back of our parking garage so it doesn't cloud up right where people are walking in and out of the building.

Smoking in a workplace is actually illegal here too but our building is owned by the owner of our company who was a smoker forever and he just allowed it because he wanted to do it. He's actually quit now but his office is on the other side of the building so the girl who works with me and they guy who rents the office next to mine still smoke as they please. The owner doesn't mind. If fire marshalls ever happen to walk in, I think we'd probably get a huge fine but I dont really know.
