It has passed NC basically. We just had a lot of rain, the wind has picked up a bit today but not super strong. I hope for the rest of the East Coast it's not as bad as they anticipate.
Doing just dandy here; though I've gotten a pre-recorded message saying that the schools are closed tomorrow. FX DH doesn't get called up either through his civie job or the ARNG - I'm still anticipating having to go to work tomorrow.

Yeah, housing has been giving us pre-recorded messages and emails for several days now with lots of tips for staying safe, some of which directly contradict each other its hilarious.
My biggest irk is I cannot seem to get a straight answer whether there is going to be trash pickup tomorrow!
I've been watching it closely. not because it will affect me (I'm in Beaufort, we got wind yesterday and that was it), but I'm supposed to fly into Baltimore on thursday.
I hope its not as bad as they are predicting because right now it seems like it's going to be catastrophic.

I'm scared! We live right in it's path! Expecting lots of power outages. And I'm more nervous for my job then for my apartment. I work at a group home, we lost power for three days from Irene! And these individuals have a lot of special needs we need power for. I've already had two staff members notify me that they can't make it to work. I'm heading in late tonight and anticipating the possibility that I will be stuck there for 24-48 hours. And I get paid salary because I'm a manager.
Got a message that I don't have to report to work tomorrow and am trying not to be bowled over in shock. This is the same company that I still had to go to work for during a nor'easter, snow, and ice storms. Though, I do admit, that the most recent snow storm we actually got to stay home - but you really only found out if you called the inclement weather line. This time around I got a text message AND phone calls. I'm shocked I tell you, shocked.
The rains and winds have definitely arrived here. If they stay like this and don't get worse then it won't be too bad. Just won't be flying any kites for a couple days.

Coffeeandbooks, where are you? Do you need anything?
We are going to be getting a direct hit here too. It's rainy and windy, but so far everything is going well. It is scheduled to go really bad in a couple of hours. I am PRAYING that the lights stay on, but not holding my breath. My house is as secure as it could possibly be. I am worried about flooding because of the leaves. They have been falling off in earnest this week, I doubt we will have much left on the trees after tonight either.

Sorry, stupid phone. I meant to say, thanks, guys. I am on the Jersey Shore. So far we are doing ok. Power is flickering but keeping on (knock on wood and spit over the shoulder). Crazy wind and steady rain. For the group home I've been able to find staff for this evening so that's good. Hoping the overnight person makes it in safely.

Well that only kind of sucked. I do wish that I had some idea when I'll be getting power back but at least a couple of my friends never lost power so I can probably mooch off them if need be.

Hey guys, t & p for my group home clients would be appreciated. A tree fell on their home and they were evacuated to a nearby shelter. They are all safe but unsure when they can get home. I spent most of the mighty night with the group home, my apartment is ok. Just without power.

We made it out rather unscathed. Our apartment itself is fine and we only lost power for a bit last night. Downtown there are pictures of trees that ripped up from the brick side walks. We were told to work from home today since most of post is running off back up generators.
T&P's for you and your clients coffeeandbooks. Our winds weren't nearly as high as they said but we did get some flooding and ice and snow in some places as well as closed roads. Our ER was excessively quiet though so that probably means everyone stayed home like they were told to.
