DH's grandmom is in hospice care. She is 93, has stomach and pancreatic cancer, and has been in care for a week. This sucks. So much. And DH is afraid of medical-stuff, so I'm trying to help.
Ugh. It sucks. And you hate saying it, but you have to hope for everyone's sake that she goes quickly. And it's awkward because I'm just an in-law, but I can't not help, and DH can't (it's just not in him, and I can't blame him for that).
Argh. No real point to this whining, I'm just stressed and helpless. Prayers would be appreciated though. Just end grandmom's suffering, already. She's a tough old bird, but she's had a rough go of it and she's ready. We are all ready, I think.

So sorry you're going through this. I know how hard it can be. Just remember - you are helping by being supportive of your H. I know what you mean about being ready, that's exactly how I felt about my grandfather. Sending good thoughts your way.
We just went through this with my grandma last fall. It was excruitiating to watch her suffer. I hope your family finds comfort though in the hospice workers. They really were the shining light in a terrible situation. They even cried with our family in the room after my grandma passed away. They were so caring and wonderful to her.
Wanted to add my well-wishes. My great-grandmother was in Hopsice care, and although the people from Hospice were great and compassionate people, waiting for that terrible phone call you know is going to come sucks.
Oh gosh J! I remember those feelings. Having to pray for them to go and feeling helpless. Is she conscious? I hope she is getting good pain management.

Thanks guys. I went through this with my grandmom, too, but it was all so different- my mom-mom had lung cancer, and hung on for 10 weeks before she died. But she was "sick" the whole time I knew her (physically or mentally, doesn't matter, there was always something wrong). Kev's grandmom was still making grandpop breakfast and everything til last Thursday.
I just hate this waiting for the other shoe to drop, it's a terrible feeling.
