I just placed an order for a Kindle. Besides amazon.com are there other places to get books? I think our local library loans them out, but I didn't know if there are other sites that I should check out.
There are some free and discounted book sites out there but they all direct you back to Amazon.com. I occasionally will look at the sites below but I have yet to find anything really good listed.

If you live close enough to a large city you can often get one of their library cards. I for example have a Boston Public Library card and my local library's card. The selection of ebooks at BPL is so much better than my local network of libraries. There are more people requesting them, but I have time to wait in line for them
I understand you can also buy memberships from some big libraries so that you can access their Kindle libraries (even if you don't live nearby), but I've never actually tried it. Maybe Philadelphia is one?

Philadelphia is supposed to be really good for this.
