Full time daycare cost clicky poll

Also, I always find it odd that daycare posts on MM talk about weekly costs. My DC never gives me a weekly cost only monthly (I mean obviously I can figure it out). But we pay monthly? I guess I don't understand why everyone talks about it weekly.

I can't do polls with my phone, but at our center it was about $1800/month for infants and our nanny would be about $2200 full time.

I know I am being nosey but couldn't you get GREAT nanny for less than that?

Ours is $250/week/kid if we went full-time, although we get a 10% sibling discount, so we would only pay $225/week. This price doesn't change as they get older and includes all milk and breakfast, lunch, and snacks after they learn to eat table foods and switch to WCM.

$800 a week? For one infant? I mean I live in HCOL (we pay $1820 a month) but that seems insane!

We have to pay weekly. It kind of sucks because I hate writing checks, especially every week. But it costs more to use a credit card to pay, and it would still be a weekly charge.

I pay $148 a week now that flybaby is > 1yr. He's there 8 hrs a day.

Flameful - I'm not sure exactly what DS2 will cost when he starts - we're moving to a new center where DS1 was never enrolled as a baby. I think it's just over $200.

All my places quoted weekly. I believe they charge us bi-weekly. Maybe it's because your nice center has a lower delinquency rate in payments, so they have to collect less often?

Hmm, maybe. They auto-debit my account so I guess that helps w/the lower deliquency rate (and i doubt they want to do that weekly).

Average in my area, for an actual center, is a smidge over $500 per week for a infant. gasp

That's shockingly high. We're pretty HCOL too and centers for a month are at least 1600. At your rate, you're talking almost $3200.

We're in a similar area and our DCP asks us to pay weekly. I'd prefer monthly because she isn't so awesome at depositing checks.

Wow! I agree. I thought Boston/Cambridge were the highest I'd heard. Damn! It's high here but still between $600-700/wk.

She was in an in-home daycare for the first year and it was $125 a week. She is in the 1 year old room now and I pay $200/week for her and for my son to go there after school.

ours is paid bi-weekly, not monthly. so thats why I talk about it weekly.

Ack, I can't do simple math -- that is the BIWEEKLY cost, so we are at just under $400 a week. Arithmetic fail.

We pay $230/week for an infant in a center. It was actually on the low end of the centers we toured. ($220-$290/wk)

Kari- All of the centers in my area quote weekly rates. I thought that was common since some months have 5 weeks.

What age will LO be starting daycare? I would absolutely pay more for a lower ratio. DS was in the nursery until he from 9-16 weeks. The ratio was 3:1. Now he's in the infant room which is 4:1 & it still can get hectic in there. I would not be comfortable with 5:1.

Our center is about $1200/month for the infant room (not sure of the exact rate now since I no longer have an infant). They charge tuition on a monthly basis. Every center we talked to quoted monthly rates. I guess that brings it to around $275/week.

12:2 OMG! Does your state allow that? My state regulations say max 4:1 for infants.

Our infant was $335 a week. We pay $195 a week for 3s room at a different center now. As for paying, they don't care how often you pay at ours as long as the next week is paid for. We get paid monthly so I just write a monthly check to cover through the next pay day.

When DS#1 was in daycare it was $115/week (4 days a week). We were very lucky and found a reasonable in home provider.

We are in a HCOL area as well.
