I just finished The Summer Garden, #3 in the Bronze Horseman series. What an incredible story! I loved the first book. Such love and tragedy. I found myself stopping at some points and trying to imagine what it must have been like to live through what they did. It was truly heartbreaking.
The second book, I liked it but not as much as the first. I thought it was to repetitive. I thought there were to many parts retold from the first book. I still enjoyed it but it was my least favorite of the three.
The third book, I thought started slow. But it really picked up. Even though a lot of just seemed to be about their day to day life, I still couldn't put it down. I found myself caring about every detail of their life. I got angry and them and happy for them and sad for them. I had so many different emotions while reading. I really liked the ending and getting see how all of their children and grandchildren grew up.
This was such an incredible series and I am so happy that I finally read them all. I will be recommending to others.

I read these earlier this year. I really like the first book. I agree with you on the second one. Too repetitive.
Also, with the third one, sometimes I felt like it was just them having sex all.the.time. By the end of the story I was a bit over the whole series, but looking back I enjoyed them.

I loved the first book. I didnt like the second book and I just skipped to the end. And I havent read the last book yet. I am kinda bored with the story. I wish she had just stopped with the first one.
I'll go against the grain and say The Bronze Horseman made me re-think taking book recommendations from the Nest BC. I definitely understand I'm in the minority, but I barely managed to finish and definitely was not interested in picking up the next book. I guess it goes to show there's a wide variety of tastes in books (and I'm glad to hear so many different types of books discussed here).

I was skeptical because most of the rec's I read from TN weren't my thing, but I actually enjoyed this one. And I 100% agree with you about the different types of books here.
