Background: my current company is making some cuts in our (small) budget and my position may go part-time. I've applied at another non-profit and am waiting on my second interview (it was scheduled and then had to be cancelled by the company due the reason below.)
Their email:
Hi sookie,
I know you are wondering what happened regarding the job here, but xxxxxxxx had a minor stroke last week and has been in and out of the hospital. So she was not able to contact you. The job is still available, but at this point we do not have a definite idea of when xxxxxxxx will be back to work. In the meantime we are working with the board to keep things moving along so I will keep you posted. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.

I was thinking of replying back with:
CFO,
That's awful, I'm so sorry to hear that! Thank you so much for letting me know what has been going on though, I grately appreciate it! I have been offered a position with a different company, but due to my beliefs about my skills being a great potential asset to xxxxx and my desire to work with your company, I have chosen to turn down the offer. Please keep me posted both on xxxxx's health as well as anything you may need from me.

------ Does the bolded seem pushy? I'm not trying to be pushy, just letting them know I'm serious about the position because it's perfect for my skill set and what I'd like to be doing.
They know I won't be sticking around if it goes part time but the decision hasn't been officially made yet. Honestly, my position would be hell for anyone to try to do PT. I work overtime as it is to get it all done.
