backstory: found a foreclosure that appears to be in excellent condition. their bank wants to close by the end of the quarter. i'm out on maternity leave, and cannot change jobs until we close (and my current job is just too much with 2 kids). bank has been dragging their feet dewinterizing the house, getting power on, and was supposed to be inspected fri.
ah fuck. home inspection probably cancelled. gas company wont turn on the gas until some vent is placed in the laundry room (the code changed fairly recently). the home is a foreclosure. and there is no way i will buy a house thats inspected before the gas is on, not that an appraiser will approve the mortgage if its not up to code.
Wouldnt be a bigdeal if their bank didnt want to close by the end of the quarter (which is a crunch already) but I also cant find a job that doesn't require me to work more than 60 hours a week until we close.

thats the problem - we really like it and if it were not a foreclosure, would be way out of our price range. but my realtor thinks that we can probably delay the closing a week or two because they have been dilly-dalling around with things (fwiw, we wanted to close mid-july but they were the ones saying june)
in terms of my job i'm just frustrated because I can't put in notice (or frankly, commit to a start date at another job) until after we close because of the mortgage process. i am not back to work and the thought of picking up where I left off makes me uneasy.

Thanks. Heard from the properties bank today - they had a contractor out for estimate today and they are going to take care of the vent this week, they are also going to put in basic fixtures and outlet covers/switch covers (something we were going to have to do prior to appraisal). So contractor done by Sunday, gas on hopefully Tues or Wed and inspection by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!

thanks. im not really a glass half full kind of person, but im really hoping we don't delay the closing. i have a co-worker off the first 3 weeks of july, making it impossible to take off, even for a few hours
