EricanAndy is okay as well. She had a couple posts on FB that they managed just fine.
Aw thanks for checkin in on us. yea We didn't lose power or even get any water in. All around our neighborhood there are trees down and lots of damaged houses, but in general not too bad. We were lucky, the storm was supposed to head right toward us and went a bit more south. I will say, I don't know how people handle frequent tornado/hurricane warnings. The wind was the most unnerving thing in the world.

Yeah, I stalked you today. I wanted to know how you were doing, so I hopped on FB to see...lol.
**Insert Stalker Face Here**
I live in tornado country. You get used to it. Granted out here on the Little House on the Prairie a 30mph wind is considered NORMAL so 60 is just a thunderstorm..lol.
As for the tornado warnings, we're like epic trailer park out here. Instead of taking shelter in a basement, we all run to the front steps to see.
I grew up at the Jersey Shore. My folks have been w/o power since Monday morning. The aerial footage of LBI and Seaside Heights speaks for itself. Devastating.
My great aunt and her daughter live in a beach front bungalow in Ortley beach. I'm wondering if it's still standing.
My friend is supposed to get married Friday afternoon on the banks of the Navesink river. I called the venue to ask the condition -- the phone is disconnected. She and her fiance live in NYC and are trapped there w/o power. Poor thing

I posted this in the other thread, but we did well in the Philly 'burbs, as Erica pointed out. I drove around for the 1st time today and there are uprooted trees all over. That's nothing compared to the destruction at the shore. We are an OC family and OC seems to have pulled through okay thankfully. I cannot get over the pics from LBI and Seaside Heights. The shore is where families go every year. It was sad to hear Christie say that they will rebuild, but for the older generations, it will never be the same :/
My aunt just spent over two years building a rather large (about 6,000 sq. ft, I think) home on the beach in Cape May. We were sure that after all of the time, stress, aggravation, etc. that went into it, it would be washed away. I don't even think they lost power.
My BFF lives in NYC and they still don't have power and spotty cell service.

We got lots of wind in Trenton, NJ but hardly any rain. We don't have power and might not for days, but we have a generator and are managing OK. I think we got lucky in my area when I see how bad it is for many people.
I did better than Floyd when I had 3' of water on my second floor. I got power a few hours ago.
I had a pine tree that took a hit, and I lost some shutters but power and internet are back so it's all good. I don't think the first to witness Edison's first light were more appreciative than I was at 6:30 pm to find my house ablaze with light.
My parents, outside of OCMD (currently) are OK. My friend in North Wildwood has major damage to her cottage but not her main house. DS's scoutmaster's 2nd floor condo in Wildwood Crest is likely OK. DS's psych's house in Sea Isle is likely trashed.

We don't have power and won't likely until next Friday and people are now starting to take advantage of the situation. Someone tried to break into a neighbor's house last night and the library was broken into and and two large TVs were stolen. There might be other incidents, but it's hard to communicate when phones/power/internet is down.
We live in eastern PA. We were fine at home, never lost power, but our internet was out and actually my cell didn't work all day on Tuesday (could only text when my phone found Edge network! No voice calling at all). My parents finally got power back on last night, and IL's are still without power. We were very, very lucky.
Unfortunately I think storms either bring out the very best or the very worst in people. My uncle went out for gas to fill a generator at my grandparents house and at 3 separate gas stations, people were fist fighting and practically running other people over with their cars to get gas. It was insane.
My parents are just outside of OCMD in Berlin- the next town over. They never even lost electricity and cell coverage was spotty for most of Tuesday. Her house is on a golf course and a couple hundred feet from the St. Martin River.
I do hear the barrier island on which OC is located got hammered.

The NJ gas situation has drifted as far south/west as the Mercer area. A friend who lives in Yardville reported lines in her neighborhood.
When we had floods years ago, flea market people would sneak into our yards to take things put out to dry while we worked cleaning up inside. Bastards.
I'm back. We are very thankful that we had no damage but just got power back for first time since Monday. DH's grandparent's house was completely destroyed and his poor grandmother who has early stages of Alzheimers can't grasp why she can't go home. Lots of other friends and family have severe damage but all can still live in their homes and can fix what's broke.
The gas lines are insane - and stupid me complained last Saturday about waiting behind 4 cars to fill up before the storm.
The devastation is just so sad. I have lived within 10 miles of the shore my entire life and everything as I know it is destroyed. ALL of my favorite places are gone. I know they will rebuild but the fact that it's everything is just overwhelming to me.
And now I hear we are in for a Nor'easter on Tuesday in which I am sure lots more trees will be down and the already flooded areas will be worse. I will never second guess a storm again!
