The other day someone came up to me and told me how adorable my 2 year old was. They followed that up with "Is he yours?" He doesn't look like me so that's probably what was meant by the comment (although still rude), but it came off like "cute kid, no way he could have such an ugly mom."
And the other day my 2 year old was looking at old pictures with me and came across some wedding pics when I weighed about 15 pounds less. He points to the pic and says "pretty." I asked if he knew who it was and he said "Daddy and Jessica." Jessica is my skinny sister.
A coworker just said to me "I like your dress'. I said "Thank you, Its pretty inexpensive too". (we are always talking about clothes, shoes, where from, how much). And she said "looks it".
Bitch, did you just say I like your cheap dress?
ETA: she preceeded to try and say she didn't mean it that way.... Oh, really bitch I have my on you. LOLOL
I was a bit chunky all through high school. My first year of college I got sick of it. I worked out everyday and changed my diet, lost 20 pounds (at 5'1 that is a lot).
I hadn't seen most of my family the whole year, and finally saw them again at my cousin's graduation. My weight was the talk of the day unfortunately.
Example 1: My older cousin waltzed up to me, poked my stomach and announced, "hey, your stomach doesn't hang over your pants anymore!"
I was told later that day that I "Look sooo much better without a double chin!"
My aunt said that she never knew I had such strong cheekbones, and that you can actually see them now that my face has thinned out.
My family folklore is a story of when my mother took me for a walk when I was probably about two or three years old, and she was stopped by a random stranger. The stranger then proceeded to say, "Wow what a cute kid. Who's the mother?"
Lovely. For the record I much more resemble my father than I do my mother, but at that age, I think it was obvious we were mother and daughter.

Oh, I forgot the professor who told another professor that I was an amazing writer, "which was all the more remarkable given that English is her second language." Um, it's not. I grew up in Oklahoma.

What?!
Even though I was born and raised in the U.S. I'm Indian (Asian) by parentage, so I guess he just assumed. After knowing me for two years, lol. The professor he was speaking to thought it was hilarious (in the appropriate "I can't believe he said that" kind of way). He fancied himself to be a good writer (he wrote a few books that were more in the popular psychology - crossover genre) and I know he did actually love my writing, so I couldn't be too irritated, more amused. He was quite a character in general.
