We leave next Saturday (November 10) for a week in Iceland where most of the time we will be Reykjavik. Just wanted to see if anyone had any good restaurant recommendations for lunch and dinner. Picks good for a group (we are going with 6 other people) or just for us are helpful. We will probably do a few meals on our own. We are open to any cuisine.
There's a really good tapas restaurant right in the downtown area - I think it was named something original like 'Tapas Bar'. If you Google tapas + Reykjavik, I'm sure it will come up.
Tapas Barinn. I second that place. If you want to try any of the Icelandic dishes (puffin or whale) this is a good place since it's small dishes. They have a lot of other good stuff, too. And they're open later than most other restaurants in town. (Good in case you decide to take a "nap" and wake up at 10pm starving! :-))
We also really liked Icelandic Fish & Chips and Potturinn og Pannan. Potturinn og Pannan is inside what used to be a house; it's really nice and quiet, service was great and the lamb was SO good.
Tapas Barinn, Icelandic Fish and Chips, Fismarket (my favorite in Reykjavik - a bit more upscale/trendy - need reservations). I also love Thir Frakkar for something a bit more traditional. The plokkfiskur (fish mashed with potatoes and then broiled and topped with a creamy sauce) is amazing.
For cheaper meals, hot dogs are excellent, there are lots of new noodle shops that are quite affordable, and Eld Smidjan has great pizza.

People are weirdly obsessed with these hot dogs in blog posts I've read about Iceland: bbp.is/.
The other place that gets a lot of press is Tapas Barrin, although I would really encourage you not to eat whale. This is really worth a read on why not: www.alexinwanderland.com/2012/09/10/whaling-in-iceland-my-plea-to-tourists/. It's long, so you can just skip to the "Who is eating the whale?" section if that's all you're interested in.

Dill, in Reyk, was hands down one of the best restaurants I've eaten in this year. Spectacular. Their focus on local ingredients in an area where it's tough to grow much was remarkable - and insanely delicious. Plus the dining room is gorgeous.
Fjorubordid is in a tiny seaside town of Stokkseyri about 50 min drive outside Reykjavik. They do one thing (lobster - but they're more like crawfish) and they do it amazingly. Well worth the trip.
