I used disposables for the first 2 weeks, then prefolds/covers for 2 months. Around 2 months I switched to pockets & AIOs and that's what they still use. I only use disposables if we are going out of town or if one has a rash that necessitates heavy duty CD-unfriendly diaper cream.

I fully intended to CD after he fit in the AIOs. I still want to CD and even have a few BG, wet bags, wipes, but disposables are so easy. As it is our evenings are full of laundry, dinner, walks, etc. so I'm hesitant to get started.
Daycare won't take it, so we do both. Cloth all the time except at daycare.
I do admit I hate CDing a newborn, but I hated prefolds/covers, and OS are really too big until they are 15+ lbs (even though they say 10. horseshit). Next time around, we *may* get XS BG for the newborn stage but only if I can find a good stash used.
At 6 months he wasn't in daycare yet, so we were cloth all the time. As he got older we had to switch to disposables at night. In January, we switched to pull ups and now he's almost potty trained. He'll still be in disposables over night, though.

I never understood this. Disposables leak like crazy for us when she is in one for overnight for whatever reason. Cloth absorbs so much better.
Well, DD is only 4 months but we CD her and love it, so I figured it would be ok She has been in exclusively CDs since she was about 2 weeks old. She was born too small for her newborn stash!
To those who say cloth sucks at night for them - what are you using? I find pockets and fitteds to be very good at preventing leaks, and DD is a heavy wetter, especially now at 2.5.
We were using BG 3.0s. I would double the liner to help and they still leaked. I think if I had gotten hemp liners I could have made it work, it was just such a pain.
DS also had rashes from being in CDs too long, so the disposables helped over night as well.

I use triple inserts and fleece liners. We use 2 inserts during the day.
We primarily use CDs, and even DH has finally gotten fully on board.
We used disposables more in the early days because I was a CDing idiot and it took me a while to figure out the learning curve. I was terrified of using them for night until I figured out a system that works for us.
She's in cloth now unless we're going out (we've had some leak issues, esp if she downs a sippy cup full of juice in the car) or occasional nights.
DD went to daycare for a month and was in disposables while she was there, cloth at home. She had a blowout 3x/week at DC, none when we were at home. Hmm.
My son is 7 months old - we have used disposables from day 1. If I could afford to have someone wash all the cloth diapers for me, I may have considered CDing because I do feel bad about the waste with disposables. But I hate washing clothes more than I hate throwing disposables in the trash, and paying for CD wash service is just not an option. For the record, he has yet to get a diaper rash and blow out are very rare.
We do a mixture of both. Cloth during the day (our daycare is cloth friendly) and disposables at night and when we take him to the grandparents to babysit. Cloth scares them.
We used the pack of newborns that we got from the hospital and after that switched to prefolds and thirsties xs covers till about 12 weeks. After that we've used various one-sized pockets, flip covers/inserts and best bottom covers/inserts. My absolute favorite has been the best bottoms. Love, love those. The inserts snap in, they are double layers of PUL, leg gussets, etc.
RE: Nightime diapering, with DD1 we did fine w/ one sized happy heiny pockets, one insert of microfiber, one of hemp and a thirsties doubler. With DD2 we've been doing a bum genius one sized pocket w/ one microfiber, one hemp and a doubler w/ a thirsties cover over the whole thing. The extra cover has made it 100% leakproof. We'll see if it hold as she gets older. I think the problem w/ stuffing is, that if you stuff too much you get leg gaps, etc. Or if you have kids like my DD1, she pees so much at one time w/ such a strong stream that the diaper has trouble absorbing it fast enough.
I don't think cloth diapers are much work at all, but I don't know otherwise. It's literally only 2 extra loads of laundry a week. No trips to the store, no extra money.
We use CDs during the day and disposables at night or while we're out for long periods of time. I'm not a fan of carting wet/dirty cds around with me while out.
We use disposable. I wanted to CD, but between day care not taking them, and my DH's opposition to cloth, I just didn't push it. It obviously wasn't particularly important to me.
I love cloth diapers so much I got suckered into hosting the Great Cloth Diaper Change last month.
They've worked really well for us. It's still fine now that I'm working (and the dayhome was happy to take cloth). I lent my newborn diapers to a friend to get her started.

We only use cloth for swim diapers.
I had every intention of CD once DD was big enough to fit into OS diapers. We had a ton of weight issues with her on top of horrible reflux, a milk protein allergy and torticollis and I was just so overwhelmed with all of that that we never made the switch. I'm actually not upset about it and I thought I would be.

Cloth at home during the day, disposables at night and while out and about. I have to change her every hour in cloth and I don't want to deal with that while we're out of the house.
My parents cloth diapered their kids and bought us our stash as a gift when DS was born.
