I think it depends what diapers you're using. Every hour is not the norm.

every hour? omg. DD lasts in a dipe forever, but she is also older and doesn't pee as often.

I really need her to be potty trained. I think its a control issue at this point. sigh.

I use prefolds.

They're not completely soaked, but I change it every time she has a significant pee, which is every hour or so.

DD was SO small that I used disposables until she could fit into CD's. DD was 4lbs3oz at birth and even preemie diapers were too big. Plus, I didn't want to invest in preemie cloth diapers. At 6 weeks, we used the diaper service gift that we received, invested in some pockets, prefolds & covers, and AIO's and never looked back. The only time we use cloth is when we go on vacation and there isn't a washer (NOLA last year, Anaheim & the beach this year.)
