We'll be in Oahu December 14-20. I'm looking for food recommendations and coffee recommendations. We're staying at the Marriott so we'll have a kitchenette. I'd love to brew some Hawaiian coffee in the morning. Any recs for Food trucks and fast food? We're traveling with a toddler and infant so fancy schmancy is probably out this trip for us. TIA
some of our favorites when we go home... Poke bowls: Ono Seafood at 747 Kapahulu Ave Pastries: Liliha Bakery at 515 N. Kuakini St. *cream puffs are to die for!* Overall selection for food: Big City Diner (various locations) Best breakfast: Bogart's Cafe at 3045 Monsarrat Ave. Japanese: Gyotaku at 1824 S. King St. Hawaiian food: Helena's Hawaiian Food at 1240 N. School St. Pacific Rim food: Ryan's Grill at Ward Center at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd. or another favorite: The Pineapple Room by Alan Wong at Macy's in Ala Moana Shopping Center Check out this site for good recs and a comprehensive search engine for restaurants all over the island. www.honolulumagazine.com/Honolulu-Magazine/Dining/
If your dates match up, check out Eat the Street, which is a food truck meetup. I went in September and it was a lot of fun and there was a ton of great food.
For coffee if you can make it to the KCC farmers market on Tuesday or Saturday they usually have several vendors selling coffee. If you can't you can get it in any grocery store or ABC store, and there's also the Honolulu Coffee Company in the lobby of the Moana Surfrider across the street. Just keep in mind that the good stuff is still expensive, even in Hawaii.
My favorite fast food in Hawaii is Zippy's, which has locations everywhere. The chilli, saimin, and fried chicken are all good. And my favorite place for plate lunch is Diamond Head Market & Grill. The plantation iced tea is also fantastic.

I don't eat fast food, really, but near the marriott there are a ton of little ramen shops that I'm sure would be ok with a kid. My favorite, for the gyoza alone, is in king's village. Also, there's a food court at both royal hawaiian (maui tacos, ramen, and some hawaiian stuff) and the int'l marketplace. The latter has a brick and mortar garlic shrimp place which is just as good as the trucks on the north short.
Food trucks are harder to come by, unless it's eat the street as mentioned.
I'm assuming maggie posted the link to her question, where I waxed poetic about the new fish taco place
Because I'm lazy, I've definitely gotten coffee from ABC. It's not terribly overpriced tbh. Their wine prices are about in line with Safeway. Plus, you don't have to drive b/c there's one basically on every corner. Whole Foods has the best local coffee selection IMO, but ABC will suffice if you're not terribly picky. Island Vintage coffee at the royal hawaiian mall should have some good beans for sale, too, but I have no idea about price.
In addition to the KCC farmer's market, there's one on the parking garage at ala moana, also on Sat morning and Tues evening. The Tues night at KCC is a lot smaller than it was when the event began a few months ago. I just went this week, and honestly, I probably won't go back since my favorite stands weren't there.
For something fun for your toddler, we like Shore Bird at the Outrigger. There's a huge grill in the back where you grill your own food and a very extensive salad/food bar. The restaurant is right on the water. And if you get there early enough they have a great happy hour with cheap mai tais.
On the North Shore we like Haleiwa Joes and Jamesons for more casual but still good food. We also really like the shrimp trucks and shave ice places (especially Matsumotos).
I grew up in Hawaii but it's been a while for me. I'll try to think of some other recs. By the way, I think Hawaii is the perfect place to take an infant and toddler. There's tons to do and it's easy to get around.
Thank you everyone! All the recommendations are making me drool. I've gone to some of the websites. Oh my! I spent too much time at Teds and the Shore Bird's website. I can't wait.

I just checked out the Shore BIrd website just out of curiosity. The prices have increased since I was there last time. You may want to call and see if they have early bird specials still. If you are like me, you eat early with a toddler! Also, check all of the little Hawaii coupon books that you can get at the hotel or the airport. They often have coupons for Shore Bird. I still think the prices are worth it. The salad bar is phenomenal, like nothing I've ever seen. And the experience is really what you are paying for.
I agree with the Teds recommendation. Get a piece of the chocolate haupia pie--heaven!!
I thought of a few more. Hula Grill and Dukes are both great for kids.
