E woke up around 9:30 this morning, which is later than usual, but he was alert and not fussy or cranky. He ate and pooped soon after. When I went to change his diaper, he spit up and then seemed uncomfortable. His belly was a bit hard, so I figured he was dealing with some gas and I gave him a 1/4 dose of gripe water, then massaged his belly. That resulted in several poops in a row (we went through three diapers before they stopped), but all were extremely watery. I'm pretty sure it was diarrhea. All were pretty small amounts. At this point I called and left a message for our doctor to see if we should come in for a check.
An hour later he was hungry again, so I fed him and he pooped again soon after. It was a normal poop again. So my question: should I be concerned about diarrhea with no accompanying symptoms that (so far) seems to have resolved itself? Is this just another normal baby poop variation?
It's so hard to tell what's diarrhea at that age since poop can take all sorts of forms. I'd be concerned if he was frequently pooping large amounts of watery diarrhea and having very few wet diapers i.e. he was dehydrated.

Thanks! That's what I gathered from Googling, too. He's definitely still peeing plenty, and seems totally fine otherwise. Hope our doc says the same thing!
I wouldn't worry either. At that age, DS pooped ~10 times a day of varying levels of watery-ness. Double or triple pooping (as you just described) was common. Unless it was green or had blood in it, I did not worry.
ETA: And it's not a silly question! We've all been there. Ask anything, anytime! We're happy to help.
