Well the good news is that the disgusting bathroom that I have to pump in is getting remodeled. The bad news is that in the meantime I have been pumping in the bank vault. It is smelly and dusty. I just want to cry. This is getting really old.
I have a couple of internal and external opportunites that I have applied for but no interviews yet. I spent my nights trolling every job site I can find.
Hang in there: I know pumping can feel like a thankless job on its own, but I think you're awesome for braving the crappy bank vault on top of it (And the crappy bathroom? Ugh.)
Can you clean the vault? I think I would prefer a vault to a bathroom.
Your employer is legally required to provide a private pumping space that is not a bathroom.
Yeah, this is what I was thinking. Is your employer too small to be covered under the law?
No, I work for one of the biggest banks in the country. But that being said my branch only has a staff of 12 people and there are only 2 possible places to pump - the bathroom, and the inner vault.
I can't use the vault full time because people are in and out of it all day. I actually take everyones keys away from them so no one can accidently walk in.
The rest of the branch either has glass to see through or has a live video feed to corporate security.

I guess the law probably only applies to employees at individual locations, not the big company. That sucks. I am sorry. IF you find out the law applies, then they have to build you something (a lot of places here wall off cubicles). You could also try to put that sticky frosted stuff on the glass.
I am really sorry though. That sucks. Completely unfair.
Thanks ladies! You are making me feel better. We recently had to complete an employee opinion survey and I told them that it is a joke that we are one of the 'top places' for working mothers. All the 'benefits' really only apply to moms that work at the large corporate offices. I also let them know that I pump in a dirty bathroom over a dingy sink. So even though these surveys are anonymous, a few days later I got a random email that my branch had been selected for a bathroom remodel. So maybe some where some one is listening.

That sucks
So ... the vault isn't monitored / videoed? Not that I'm planning a bank heist, but seriously, I thought all vaults were monitored/videoed for security.
Nope no cameras in the vault and in my 15 years of banking I have never heard why. When internal theft occurs it is almost always the vault teller and in the vault.

I am fortunate that I have a great pumping set up, but all the effort it takes + terrible pumping conditions, I can see why a lot of women quit nursing/pumping when they return to work.

It sounds like they might be and maybe it's just your branch management that sucks.

Hehe - I am the branch management ;D Luckily, none of my employees are nursing, because I would feel terrible if they had to do what I do every day, because I know there isn't much I could do to make it better.
