For all your pet owners: there seems to be several chains that allow pets in their hotels. I was wondering if any of you have a particular favorite that you stick with.
They only traveling we've done with our dogs in the past has been camping or staying with friends / relatives. Now that we'll be traveling around more, I think it makes sense to probably stick with one chain (if possible) and join the hotel rewards program.
But there is no Marriott in DR, so if you get a non-A slip when you get there, go to the Ramada. They were the only hotel that allowed our dogs when we got there.
If you can't get a non-A slip, board your pets at VIP pet care. It's closes to base and they are really nice.

Are you talking about for when you are waiting for housing, or for along your trip?
I've become a big fan of La Quinta Inns. They have tons of locations everywhere and are pet friendly plus have breakfast in the morning. They also have a flat military rate of I believe around $69. When I moved cross country in January we stayed at their hotels and motels the whole way. They have an iphone app that you can book right on your phone, so we would just search about an hour before we were ready to stop, find one on the way and book it.
Some of the locations are hotels, but a lot of motels. Since we were 2 women driving alone (we made our move together while our H's were deployed) we always asked for a first floor room, and backed the Jeep right up to the room door so we could easily unpack what we needed and weren't in dark parking lots in random cities. Personally I loved their hotels and will likely always do that on moves.

We love La Quinta. Red Roof I think usually takes pets but their policies are a little funky. Last time we moved we were able to use the Navy Lodge and they were great. They even moved us to a different room after one of our cats snuck under a bed that wasn't secured properly and got tangled/caught and both the cat and DH had a panic attack over it.
Anywhere you go always make sure to ask for the government rate, especially when you're PCSing and have a copy of the orders on hand. Most places are happy just seeing an ID though.

What is a non-A slip?
I think she means a statement of non-availability. That piece of paper makes it so that if you need temporary lodging after reaching your final destination you will get reimbursed up to a certain amount.
Laughlin has a small number of pet-friendly TLFs ( temporary lodging facilities) where you can stay when you arrive before your house is ready. If there are no pet-friendly TLFs available, they will give you a regular TLF and you will have to board your animals.
If there are no TLFs available of any kind, you get what's called a non-A(vailability) slip, which allows you to get a room in a hotel off base and have the AF pay for it (for up to 10 days).
We use this every time we travel/PCS with the pets. We also usually just go with whatever is cheaper. I know we have used Red Roof, and Super 8 before. We also have stayed on base lodging along the way occasionally if that's a possibility.
