"What does gay mean?"

That was the question from Carter en route home from soccer this afternoon. After deducing where he heard it (a classmate called him gay (sigh)) I explained what it meant, that it is not a bad or insulting word, but we don't call each other that, and I am glad he asked me.

I am not sure if the kid who called him gay even knows they have 2 moms or if he was just repeating what he has heard. Either way, I kinda felt like we lost a little bit of innocence today..
