Does anyone have a rug from Pottery Barn? I have loved this rug forever and I can't find anything I like as much. But I was hoping to spend less. Current owners, are they good quality to be worth the money? Appreciate any advice you guys might have! We are trying to redo our living room before Thanksgiving, so I might be asking a lot more questions.
Re: wool. My experience with a tufted wool rug (as opposed to a knotted wool rug) in my living room with two people and a big dog was that they last 6ish years. I haven't had a PB tufted rug, but all tufted rugs are made the same way AFAIK. They use a gun to shoot the fibers into a backing and the whole thing is held together with glue, which eventually fails. A tufted rug will shed a lot at first because not all the fibers are secured by the glue. Over time, you lose more and more fibers, and ours eventually started failing on the edges especially. It still looks Ok other than a few frayed spots on the edges, but we moved it to a lower traffic area. On a knotted wool rug, the fibers are tied securely onto a cloth backing and can't come loose. I expect my knotted wool rugs to last decades, but they not cheap.

So the tufted wool rug we have was $$$$ (hand me down from my grandparents). It was in a high traffic dining room for 10 years before we got it, and we had it in our living room for 7 more years.
I wonder why it has lasted so long (and also, thank you hand-me-down gods for your delivery of the never-failing wool rug).
Then maybe some glues are better than others. We didn't have a great experience, but like I said, we didn't have PB. Or maybe we're just really hard on rugs!

I have had one for 2 years in my great room. It did shed a bit at first, but it is great quality. A nice thick material that feels substantial. Much better quality than cheer rugs we've had in the past. I would buy it again.

Maybe yours is hand-knotted as opposed to "hand tufted"?
My mother has a couple of orientals handed down from her parents- no glue on those puppies and they've got to be pre-WWII vintage.
I have that rug, it was in my dining room for the last four years. I have two PB rugs, the other one shed a ton at first but the Adeline never did. It's nice quality and I never had any issues with it. I actually need to get rid of it though (changing up the color scheme), too bad you're not in GA!

Aww, man! I'd totally buy it off you if I was nearby!
Thanks for the good feedback, I'm totally going to buy it! Just gotta convince H now.
