What else is going in the room? I kind of like the contrast of the color against white, like in the example. So, white (or near-white) curtains, white molding, stuff like that can help break it up.
I painted the whole room. We have old couches that need to be replaced (they're cream color). The trim is white. I was planning on buying pretty light colored curtains. We bought a very traditional area rug - I dont' think it goes well now.
I think living with it for a bit is good advice. I think sometimes the color calms a bit as it cures, and it helps to see the color at various times of day and night....and to get used to it, if it is a big change. Sometimes you just need to see it with stuff in the room and on the walls to really get the full picture.

I like it, but then again I just painted my living room 2 different bright green shades (they're a bit brighter than I would have preferred, but I like it anyway) - Behr's Scotland Isle and Asparagus, color-matched to Valspar paint.

I vote live with it for awhile too. I have instant regret sometimes too, but I usually calm down after awhile. Like my bathroom and the boys' room. I love the colors now.
I agree re: living with it for a while. You might decide you like it. If you don't, you might develop clearer thoughts on WHAT you don't like about it. Too dark, too bright, too yellow, too blue, too...
Are you using a fan deck to pick your paint colors, or just isolated chips? I think it's really difficult and confusing to use the single-color squares. I need to see the relationships between colors - yellower to bluer, lighter to darker, to help me pick a good color for my space and wants.
Even if you don't want to shell out for a fan deck (I got mine for free at SW when I bought a TON of paint in one shot), you can make your own, at least the sections you reach for, by picking up all the chips in that range and keeping them in order together. I like the chips that have different tints/shades on the same card.
I'll PIP the room tomorrow. No fan deck, but I had a pretty big stack of chips so I could see the color relationships. Home Depot had a pretty sad selection of greens. I like Martha Stewart colors but generally find the paint to be poor quality. Another problem is that I graivtate toward greens w/blue undertones but I already have a blue w/green undertone in my kitchen (and that scheme doesn't go w/the rug).
I'm so fickle. Part of my problem is I'm under pressure to get this room together for Thanksgiving & Christmas.
Wait before you repaint. Sometimes once it cures for a few days, it takes on a different tone and you may like it better. (Or, like pp said, you can identify exactly what you dislike about it.)
Also, once I get everything back in the room, I often feel differently about the paint than I did before.
