I haven't voted yet, but I work across the parking lot from my voting station tomorrow so I will do it tomorrow.
Yes, I have received so many flyers in the mail. I just got a robocall at work for another person today too.
I'm really ambivalent about it because I'm torn on the issues and don't fit into either party. I'm not sure I even fit into the other lesser known parties.
I haven't voted yet - planning to hit my normal polling place before work tomorrow. Apparently the early voting locations in the area have been SLAMMED. Like hours long wait all day, every day.
We haven't gotten any calls/door knocks - but I cannot WAIT for the election ads on TV to go away. I live in a solid blue state, so we haven't gotten tooooo many presidential ads, but we have been inundated with a ridiculous amount of ads on one of our ballot questions. (MD Question 7. It's about gambling) Like one for each side on every.single.commmercial.break. On every channel. All of them. The amount of money spent by both sides on this campaign is unreal.
After this election season I'm wishing that there were really strict controls on when and how campaigns can run ads - like no more than XX dollars on any single campaign. And no ads at all until X months before the election. It'd be hard to enforce, but it's just too much now. I'm fairly interested in politics but I'm pretty burnt out.
I'm thinking Obama is going to pull it out. I just don't see a close race coming down to anybody but the incumbent. But the polls are all over the place depending on whose model you're looking at - so who knows. I'm voting 3rd party anyway - I'm tired of the endless D&R wrangling and want to smack them all silly.

We early voted already.
I'm really really nervous about the election. I always feel very anxious all election day. I'm a very liberal and really don't want Romney to win.
I really haven't felt inundated by election stuff. We aren't in a swing state, don't have a home phone and don't watch very much broadcast tv, so we've avoided it.
I'm tired of the advertisements (on tv, on the radio, here on Proboards).
General feeling? Not positive. In fact, this election has been so energy draining that I can't wait for it to be over. This says a lot since, generally speaking, I am very open IRL with regard to my political opinions and views.
I was more irritated with the whiners on FB that didn't want to hear election stuff. I made one post about that. It's social media people, wake up! Election stuff is always gonna be on FB. Get over it! I never felt like anyone was trying to sway me so much as make their own thoughts/feelings known.
This times a billion.
Something else I've noticed on my side of fb is that those of us who lean left are a lot more vocal than those who lean right. We'll post articles and make comments. My friends who lean right will post a support ad from the campaign they support but will not post comments. It's sad because I would really like them to explain why they support those campaigns. They certainly are under no obligation to do so, but it's good to get different viewpoints and have a conversation.
I had to leave FB because I couldn't handle any more political nonsense...and this was back in the last week of September or the first of October. My mother is one of the worst offenders. It's completely foreign to her that someone could side with one party on one issue and the other party on another issue. She assumes that because I like one party for a few issues that are dear to me that I'm a slave to that party's entire platform. No, not true at all, I think both parties suck equally, neither of them line up with my beliefs, and I dearly wish we had a multi-party system.
My state has always and will always go with one party, so there's next to no political polling and advertising, which is kinda nice. I think I'd have to lock myself in a cave if I lived in Ohio or Colorado or Florida and listen to all that crap.
We do not have early voting. I wish we did - there's never been any question in my mind.
Did you feel inundated with election news/calls/etc.? YES! From Friday afternoon until Saturday night, we had at least 11 political calls. Each day for the last few weeks we get no less than 3 postcard things in the mail.
How are you feeling about it in general? very anxious and kinda sick.
If you dare, who do you think will win? I just don't know. I really worry that Obama will be re-elected, but I know how hard it is to beat the current office holder.
Tarheels, what state are you in? What party do they favor?
My H is a reg independent, but voted for Obama in the last election. I am not sure who he is voting for this time (we had a bad fight the last election, so we made it a rule that we won't discuss politics). I really wish I had more Republicans around me. I tend to attract the Democrats and when people find out that I am a Republican, they are surprised.
Re: those who think it's ok to post political stuff and think that people are "whining" for complaining about it. (I didn't see your posts before I posted.) You don't know what my feed looks like or the feeds of those people who were complaining. I left FB because there were days when there was not a single thing "social" on my feed and everything was people shouting and getting ugly about why their side was best and the other side was made up of idiots. I welcome educated debate. I welcome impassioned debate based on logic and statistics. I despise emotional, illogical rhetoric from people who can't be bothered to do a little investigating and make an educated decision.
Ya know this meme? It's how I feel a million percent.
Have you voted already? No, I'll vote tomorrow after work.
Did you feel inundated with election news/calls/etc.? The mail and commercials are annoying. Between the Presidential and local elections I just want my tv back. I'm also glad we don't have a landline, no robocalls.
How are you feeling about it in general? I'm over it. I'm directly affected by a lot of the stuff that has gone down the last 4 years and I just wish people would get their heads out of their party line asses and get some shit done for once.
If you dare, who do you think will win? Either way it'll be a shitstorm.
My husband and I went Saturday to vote early. We got there at a good time and only had to wait about an hour. I usually vote on election day, but between work and my son's school election night dinner, trying to vote too would be hectic.
I've pretty much avoided election commercials by listening to NPR and watching PBS mostly, but during sports programs, the ads are insane. We've had some hilarious Romney mailers, especially since we're registered Democrats and live in a very liberal district but in a more conservative area. When I've been out canvassing for the Obama campaign, some people are fed up with the constant calls and knocks, and others are still really fired up (even yesterday!). Living in Ohio pretty much guarantees that all of us are ready for the election to be over though.
From my point of view, I don't think it should be as close as it is. But, I guess I shouldn't be surprised because Republicans are very good at holding their noses and voting party line anyways, even when the candidate is distasteful.
Political ads have gotten so bad I don't want to turn on my TV or radio. Thank God for Pandora and DVR. I'm sick to death of the election. Hopefully by this time next week things will feel a little more normal.
I just looked up our polling location so we can vote tomorrow morning. Romney was in our state yesterday a few miles from my house so apparently they've decided it's competitive. We saw a lot of commercials on TV last night.
I think Obama wins - the electoral math just isn't there from Mittens.
I'm feeling more annoyed by state/local politics than I am by the pres candidates. On my way to work this morning I noticed that a senate candidate had LITERALLY (not exaggerating in the slightest) put lawn signs every three feet on I-95. There were hundreds. SERIOUSLY? I kind of want to call the campaign office and confirm that they'll clean up that mess after the election.
Also, for those of you who want the calls to stop I can tell you how. Whichever candidate they're calling on behalf of, tell them that you're voting for the other guy. You'll be taken off the list immediately since they don't want to remind you to vote. If you're a frequent/reliable voter and they know you like their guy, they'll call you all the time to make sure you get to the polls.

This is a HUGE huge pet peeve of mine. If I were queen of the world (or even...I dunno...county sheriff or something) I'd be citing all of those campaigns for every.single.sign left over the allowed deadline on public space for littering. (I think they have like 48 hours to take them down after tuesday in my area? I'd have to check that though. that might be my old county rules) If you can't muster the manpower to take them down in a timely fashion, then you have NO BUSINESS putting that many up. Period. It's just trash once the election is over.
ETA: Just checked - the rules are that signs on private property have 7 days to be taken down. I can't find what the rules are for signs posted in the public ROW though.
But, I guess I shouldn't be surprised because Republicans are very good at holding their noses and voting party line anyways, even when the candidate is distasteful.
8-D I was going to commend everyone on being respectful in this thread, but...haha.

Hey, that's my opinion. I thought there were a couple of very good Republican possibilities during the primaries, but Romney isn't one of them. And seriously, Republicans are always much better at turning out and supporting whoever is running more so than Democrats.

a couple? I'm really curious to hear who you thought was a good choice. I'm guessing Huntsman. But who else? If you're an Obama fan I really can't imagine you were in favor of Newt - and certainly not Perry, Santorum or Bachman. Or Cain. Maybe Pawlenty - but he dropped out so early he barely counts. Ron Paul?

Huntsman for sure. He should have had more support, but he will probably be back in 2016. I also have a soft spot for Gingrich. I don't think I would ever want to see him as president, but he'd be a better candidate than Mitt Romney has been.
I voted absentee as I'm in LA for work now. I think Obama will win. I haven't been bothered by calls / mailings.
I'm really stressed over our senate and superintendent of public instruction elections. I really like what the incumbent SPI has done in a lot of cases but teachers seem to hate him. I figured they would have a rockstar candidate to oppose him since he's apparently so horrible, but I was super disappointed in her. I spent about 6 hours researching this one race and couldn't get answer of why to support her other than "it's what's best for teachers" which was really frustrating.

Have you voted already? Yep. Washington State is now all absentee/mail in ballots. I mailed mine in last Friday.
Did you feel inundated with election news/calls/etc.? Yes. Not for the presidential race because Washington is solidly blue, but we've received a lot of calls for local elections. And have seen a lot of ads for local elections and initiatives.
How are you feeling about it in general? Cautiously optimistic. I'm pretty liberal, and apart from the presidential and governor's race there are several initiatives that I'm passionate about. The number 1 being allowing same-sex marriage (governor passed it into legislation last spring, and people against it forced it to a public vote). If it passes, Washington will be the first state to have it up for a vote and pass. Right now it's looking good!
If you dare, who do you think will win? I honestly think Obama has a fairly good chance. I think it will be close, but not as close as most of the news stations are making it out to be. ETA - the popular vote may be close but I don't think the electoral vote will be as close.

Eh, I had more complainers than political posters. I just thought it was AWish to say "if you don't stop, I'm quitting FB!" Like.... Good for you! Or "I won't be posting anymore pictures of my kids til after the election". BARF
Other than that, I don't really have any friends that broadcasted ignorance. I had a lot broadcast for Romney and for Obama, but TBH they all had pretty good reasons to do so.
It does seem totally stupid to say, "If you don't, then I quit." I wasn't trying to control anyone's behavior. I just chose to excuse myself from it because there was no way for me to use FB and not be overrun by politics.
"I'm quitting FB until after the election. The BS on both sides is too much to bear.
To those of you who hold intelligent political discourse based on facts, I thank you and look forward to resuming our conversations after the election. (
,
, I enjoy your posts.)
To those of you who make political decisions based on email forwards, unfounded rumor, and innuendo, I encourage you to make use of Snopes.com and to seek out your news from multiple sources."
Like, my mom called me yesterday to say that "They" had found a student ID of Obama's listing him as a foreign student and with a different last name. OMFG, mom, that's photoshopped, do you really not get that? That's the sort of thing that's all over my feed. Agghhh!

I think we're in the same state. I spent a lot of time reading about that race yesterday, too - I feel the same way you do.
We're being innundated with commercials, but they're all for IL because our tv is out of Chicago and we vote in IN.

I will vote tomorrow sometime.
I have seen very few commercials, and we haven't had any mail or calls from anybody, so I guess I've gotten lucky! I am definitely ready for the election to be over, because I'm sick of hearing about it on FB and elsewhere.
I'm not really sure who will win, I think it will be a pretty close race, though.
Only one of the calls I've received had an actual person on the other line. That was for the proponents of the gay marriage initiative. I told them they most definitely had my vote and haven't heard a peep since.
The other 100 calls/voicemails I've received have been robocalls. No way to tell them I'm voting for the other guy.
There are various reason why I'm going with Obama, but most importantly as a woman and someone with family members that belong to marginalized groups, I can't fathom voting for Mittens.
I'm not going to even think about the results until Wednesday morning... I hope. I just can't with the stress.
