Shocked by political vote

I just saw on FB that our wedding photographer (lesbian, involved in the community, photographed ads for our cities "all families matter" campaign, donates time to photograph waiting kids for adoption & senior pics for kids in foster care...)

is voting for ROMNEY! Because she is a small business owner & thinks it will help!

I am shocked. WOW.

One of our best friends, who is a gay man, is voting for Romney too because "people shouldn't get handouts." sigh.

Yes, because Romney cares so much about small business owners. And those lazy-ass seniors and disabled veterans should stop leaching off the rest of us.

I'm shocked enough by FB friends who have 'liked' Romney's page. I'm trying to tell myself that they are doing the whole "keep your enemies close" thing.

I don't understand when people vote against their own self-interests, or pick only one small aspect of life to make decisions that would impact them/everyone on a much more holistic level.

I am thankful that there are only a small few Republicans/Romney supporters on my FB. I understand voting on your economic interests, but I really don't see that Romney is going to be good for them unless you're a millionaire. And so much more is at stake than 'the economy' which ultimately presidents don't have THAT much control over anyways.

Ditto what Kershnic said about presidents not really having THAT much control over the economy. I can't wait for this to be over. I just hope the results are clear and decisive...all this talk about people waiting 8 hours in line to vote over the weekend has me nervous that those we need to get out and vote won't be able to since they have to go to work tomorrow.
