Hi all, I've been lurking a bit and find you all to be very uncrazy, which is awesome.
My H and I have been TTC for 4 cycles, I've been charting religiously for 8. My LP has been extrememly short-7 or 8 days. Instead of incessant googling, I made an appt with my GYN to get her input before I drive myself crazy.
She googled "short luteal phase" when I told her my issue. (not reassuring)! Then she sent my for bloodwork after I told her I'm on CD11 and haven't ovulated. They tested LH, FSH, progesterone, and glucose.
I know I've been O'ing because of my temp shift and OPK's have indicated LH before O, so I'm not sure why she ordered that work. I also have heard of women going in for CD3 bloodwork, never CD11.
I feel like she just jumped right into something without understanding what's happening, and now I'm really confused. What results am I looking for? Will I have to do more bloodwork after O?
I'm just feeling really unconfident with what happened this morning so a) wanted to hear other's blood work experiences, b) ask what, if anything, y'all did for short LP's, and c) ask if I should just go to a specialist next time.

I think, unfortunately, that a lot of gyn's are not really experts on conceiving. I don't know what the protocol is for getting referred to an RE, if you have to have been trying for a certain amount of time before a referral or something, but they would definitely know what a short luteal phase is without needing Google.
Welcome. We are uncrazy here, except I think we've all had a moment or two
So, as far as I have heard, there is a test done of CD21-22 of your cycle so you can determine progesterone levels. Which can affect LP.
An earlier test is often to test the follicular phase development to see if thats why your having a short LP. It can be a lack of progesterone OR something isn't developing correctly in the earlier portion of your cycle. (This is what I've read anyways).
Testing on CD3 is for women who don't ovulate (according to my friend, who is on progesterone supplements to try and balance things out in that regard (take the pills, get your period, test on 3rd day of period, start clomid)
Please do not take what I say as gospel! I read, I ask people here, and my friend happened to share this with me recently.
I'll agree it's not encouraging that your doc had to google the term...
I took B6 pills to help lengthen LP....it may have helped to add a day on, but not 100% sure.
GL!
I started a B6 vitamin last month, didn't seem to do anything but have read it can take a few months to "build up." Can I ask if you just took B6 or if you were taking a B-complex?
We all have our crazies once in a while, but generally we're fairly okay. TTC is a mindfuck though!!
Can't tell you anything about LPs, mine seems standat. We'll be seeing a fertility specialist on Friday though, so if there's any info on anything there, I'll be sure to share!!
Welcome Yes, we are totally uncrazy, which I love to pieces. I don't think I'll leave when I get a BFP because even the Got Pregnant board is a little crazy for me since it draws from all the other boards, not just us.
I start a good amount of spotting on 6-7DPO and get a light period (because, well, there's not much left) on 12DPO. With Dr. Google's advice , I started taking a B 100 complex. I read in a couple places that you should take all the B vitamins together because taking just one can throw the others off balance, but who knows, ya know? I think they moved O up by 2 days this cycle, so we'll see in a couple days when I can confirm with temps.
I've also picked up ProGest cream which is supposed to help with short LPs and spotting. I'll start using it here in a couple days when O is confirmed. We'll see. FX.
