I'm kind of an oldie. Or at least I feel like it.

How many animals do you have? 2 A special needs hot mess named Max, and another feral cat I adopted out of the shelter Name d Hissy because he is a mean son of bitch. You can' pet him. In fact you can't even look at him. He will just hiss at you. And yet, he is ours.

What kind? Max is a little Pit mix, not sure what his mom is < He just has little pit markings is pretty petite and just weights about 70 pends, You would never guess that. He looks MAYBE 45.

We currently have 4 dogs, 2 senior dachsies (all that's left of our 6-pack) and two new Pyr/Lab mix puppies. We also have 4 male gerbils- they've been with us for 3 summer and they weren't babies when we got them, but, who knows how old they are.

The last two dachshunds are Jake and Geisha. We lost three of their "siblings" this year- Woody on NYE, Leo in April, and Lynx a few weeks ago. Dutch passed in 2009, but, we still miss him enough to mention him. The new boys are Fer(Gus) and Mur(Doc). The gerbils are Dexter, Oscar, Casper and Chewy.

I'm in FL, a SAHM to our 4yo DD and 7yo DS, and if you add "_the_water" to my GBCN name, you might know me from the old (circa 2004-2007ish) pets board. I was also known as the dachsie girl- we had our 6 (2 from him, 3 from me, and a failed foster).

Here are the new boys- they're 4mo and change today, 42lbs each as of this weekend, entering their 10th week of obedience training (they're well on their way to their CGCs) and really great dogs.

We adopted Abby and Pippa last year.  We were really just interested in Pippa, but she was there with her mother, Abby.  So we did a sort of "get to know you" with both of them, and Abby was just such a well behaved dog.  So we ended up with two instead of just one :)

We lost our baby boy, Maximus, on October 30.  He had degenerative myelopathy which we had been treating for many months.  He was still very happy until he developed megaesophagus and pneumonia.  He was a sweet collie-chow mix and we loved him more than anything in this world.  He made our life complete.  )

We recently adopted a 1 year old aussie-mix who we believe will be just as smart (if not smarter) than our Maximus and is very sweet.  When we went to meet him, we were worried he was going to be a spaz because of the breeds he is mixed with but he isn't.  He's into the ball and playing but will stop when we ask him to and call him.  He also really loves to be with his people. We adopted him from a family with 3 other dogs who didn't have much time for him and who bought him as a Christmas present for their son who ended up being scared of him (dog wanted attn and son has autism with sensory issues)
