Does anyone know if there is a big price cut in appliances such as ranges? We have been shopping around but were told at Lowes to wait until Black Friday. Is it worth the wait?
Usually there are price cuts, but it's only for certain models so if you're picky it might not be the best bet. Dealnews.com does a pretty good Black Friday analysis and will post ads as they are released so you can see what's available. Also, Amazon.com typically matches prices of competitors on that day so you can save on tax if you buy from them.
Bunny, do you know anyone with the Nest who is happy with it? I read some reviews that concerned me, but it's hard to tell if there is really an issue with the product or if the user is an idiot. I don't know anyone personally who has it. The issue I read about was the thermostat "learning" incorrectly and turning itself on when it shouldn't.

Yes. A friend has it and loves it. He lives in NYC in a small apartment but has a small house he's DIYing upstate. It's great for him to be able to monitor the temps up there remotely.
We have a programmable, but I'd love to be able to remote in and see stats. We will probably wait until we built the new house to buy anything like this though. Hopefully by then they will have all the kinks worked out.
On the nest you would have been reported for a link that benefits you. I think you should have mentioned that you get something out of people here using this link to Living Social.
Sorry lshoes - I didn't realize I got a benefit? I don't use livingsocial that often so maybe it's ignorance, but I seriously didn't mean any harm. I apologize and I'll keep quiet in the future.

Strange. The living social link brings me to a generic $20 Overstock deal. I see nothing that directly benefits her. Sure there's the 'Want it for free' thing, but I don't see the big deal. I think she was trying to pass along a good deal. I think when you purchase yours and check out, you then enter a friend's email addreses to pass along for a chance to get it for free. If she doesn't have your email address- which she probably doesn't because she's an internet stranger-, there's no way she benefits. I think your comment was totally uncalled for, unless I'm missing something, too.
