When do headaches in pregnancy become a concern? I'm 13 weeks. I had headaches during both previous pregnancies, but I don't remember having them this often. It also has me a little more concerned this time around since I have had hbp since even before getting pregnant. I am on meds for it, although a pretty low dose. Last week at my appt my bp was a touch high, although not enough to concern the doctor. I've had headaches every day for the past week. I will be calling about it one the office opens. I'm just hoping that my bp is ok.

I had headaches all the time while pregnant. My BP was always very low (as in low for a normal non pregnant person). I think most of the time they related to not drinking enough water.

I'd invest in a bp monitor, just in case. I never had a migraine before pg. They started after DS1 was born and I still get them. I'd see my doctor, but I think pg can make some people's headaches change (worse to better and vice versa).
I had headaches everyday in the 1st and 2nd trimesters of my second pregnancy. They were so bad I had to have the lights off in my office and my computer monitors turned down so low because I couldn't tolerate light. They finally went away late in 2nd trimester. I tried to drink more water and the occassional caffeine but pretty much just had to deal with them. It sucked.
talk to your doc -- headaches can be something bad- or nothing... i had migraines through both of my pregnancies- but i get them normally, too - so it wasn't an indication of anything bad giong on.

This response exactly, except for the drinking water part. My OB thought it was due to me grinding my teeth, being all anxious about being pregnant.
I had terrible headaches until I was about 22 weeks or so. My doctor wasn't too concerned (I had normal BP all pregnancy) but he did give me some medication that helped tremendously. Definitely talk to your doctor about it...just thinking about how bad my headaches were is making me feel sick right now!
I had headaches and talked to my doctor about it. He said it could be due to the fact that your hormones are on overload, and it is pretty normal. But if I was getting migraines or the headaches weren't going away we would need to investigate a little more. They ended up going away near the beginning of the second trimester.
