I am planning to go to a local running store and get fitted for new shoes on Friday. I assume that I will be running on a treadmill, and I'd also like to try on hydration belts, so would it be best to wear what I wear when I run?
Any other tips? This will be my first time to get fitted and I'm so excited!
just wear something you're comfortable running in... you dont have to be in full running regalia, but dont wear a skirt or anything. i think ive always been in yoga pants and a tshirt when ive been fitted. a few times ive worn jeans.
if youre trying on fuel belts dont wear anything significantly bulkier than youd run in.
and make sure they have a good returns policy.
have fun! i know at my store (there's a RRS by you, right? i go to the one up by me), if it's crowded, it can take a while. so just give yourself some time there.

The closest RRS to me is about 40 minutes away. I am going to Princeton Running Company.

Just wear something that you are comfortable running in. Also, bring or wear socks that you would run in so you can test fit with the shoes on. I have tried a couple different stores here and none of them have a treadmill. They watched me walk barefoot in the store and then with shoes on and then I went outside and ran up and down the strip mall that they are in. They watched me run just to make sure I was in the right kind of shoe. Make sure that you run in them before you buy them. This last time every pair that I tried on felt comfortable but there was only 1 pair out of 8+ that didn't make my hip hurt when I ran.
You don't necessarily need to wear running clothes, regular comfy clothes should be fine. Agree on the advice about avoiding skirts...that can make things a little awkward. If you're not comfortable running for 20-30 seconds in a regular bra, wear a sports bra.
Have fun! I used to work at PRC's Manhattan store.
