I don't think they give a shit about forum users, and for good reasons. The ad revenue comes from unique cliques and the morons who actually read nest content. I had the boards in my bookmarks and stayed logged in. I haven't seen a page with ads for like 7 years ffs.
But if they targeted the ads on the page to the users (by paying attention to who we are and what we talk about), they'd make more money on it. Before the mass exodus, we were ripe with untapped potential.
Bullshit that they don't care about the forums- they were on the list of reasons to invest in their company- number 6 if I recall from what Jehawley wrote.
We aren't the customers. We are the Product. We are what they sell to advertisers. When they make their sales pitch they point to their daily visits and the message boards play a huge role in those visitor numbers. The rest of the site is basically window dressing to get us there.
