I got a good 2 year run out of my Shark steam mop then one day it was spitting water and almost shot steam 5 feet out of the mop. My kids were safely in the livingroom but the loud noise has them paranoid for life. We have hardwood and ceramic tile. Can someone recommend a new steam mop?
Does it have to be steam? I was going to get a steam mop, but read that the steam is not good for hardwood unless you know it is 100% sealed well (I wasn't sure with ours). I went with a Bona. It definitely has it's negatives (kinda flimsy and not the easiest to assemble), but once you have it figured out, it does a GREAT job cleaning and it's very convenient to just pull out when you have a spill.

My Bona broke after about 6 months
I have owned about 7 different devices over the years, and they all suck. I am currently on a "sweep often, mop never, scrub on my hands and knees once in a blue moon" plan.
Screw the steam mop! Mine had a good run, but when I broke I had no desire for another. I spent $12.99 on a Libman Freedom mop and it's like I have a brand new life...lol.
What broke on yours? I've had mine for about a month and I could definitely see it breaking at 6 months. I really do like it, though. The other day the spray just stopped coming out. I took the bottle off and put it back on and that worked. If this does break, I may just get the $20 Bona mop and put the solution in a spray bottle.
