What would you want your ILs to gift to you

H keeps asking for them and I keep saying nothing, but he/they won't accept that answer. I need ideas.

I don't know. This year I gave a very specific list at MIL's request, giving her various items and price ranges. She got me a GC to the mall. Why ask for a list then??

Oh and I hate getting gift cards, especially at the mall, it feels like a total cop out.

My mother in law is a pretty good shopper so I like most things she buys me...

I usually try to provide a list through my husband: a few books, a few DVD's, shower gel (then they can pick the fragrance), and other things they can shop for like "a pretty table cloth"

I would want my ILs to gift me a new set of ILs but since that isn't an option I agree with the gift cards. My MIL also likes to get me plants which could be a nice gift if I didn't have a black thumb.

Omg we must be SILs...mine do the same thing with cheap fake jewelry the buy from the thrift store. It's extra special when they spring for postage...they usually will opt to wait 2-3 months and give it in person in order to save the whopping 3-4 bucks to ship it.

I try to give a quick list, a couple things I want and a few things I need. Examples:
Plain black trouser socks
Long necklaces
Specific cookbook title
X item from Crate and Barrel (like a decorative pillow)
X item from Pottery Barn (like a display shelf)
2 Christmases ago I was PG so I asked for a Gap gift card to order maternity clothes online. I got that plus a spa gift card for a pre-natal massage. I used the GC for a haircut/highlight as I never felt cool with getting a prenatal massage.

I recieved passive-aggressive gifts from an in-law last year. I did not know that was possible, but it sure as shit is.

I've ended up with Victoria's Secret cards on more than one occasion, despite my providing a list. I have to buy lotion or perfume with those cards.

At least they started getting gift cards though. My wedding present from my ILs was a negligeé.
