I just rolled my ankle (on the outside of my foot) while coming down the stairs and slid down to the landing on my butt. Thank goodness I wasn't carrying DD. I am just getting into the groove of working out and losing weight with my personal trainer. I had to cancel my appt this morning and I'm so upset. :-(
Please share your experience. It's a bit swollen but not anything crazy and only 1 bruise but not in the area it hurts. I have taken Advil and am icing it while elevated.
I'm ridiculously clumsy and do it all the time. At home, at the store, down stairs.... I'm usually a little sore for a day or two, but am fine after that. Make sure to walk on it a little bit so it doesn't get too stiff.

Thank you! I'm hoping it's really nothing....just has me scared that it's going to set me back since it's hard to walk on right now.

Oh no! I hope it feels better for you soon! I would keep doing what you're doing and if the swelling / pain doesn't go down / away in a day or so go to the dr.
I've done that before too. If you can keep it up, and use an Ace bandage and some ice and heat rotated, that might help with the swelling. Like PPs said, if it doesn't start to get better in a day or so, go see a doctor to make sure you haven't torn anything.
Please do not go to the gym until you feel 100% on it for a few days. Rolling your ankle usually has some stretching to the supportive tendons in the area and re-rolling it will cause more damage if you don't let it heal properly.
Wrap it snugly and properly (no wrinkles / bumps in the wrap and only "pull" the wrap when it is across the bone, don't "pull" when it is across the tendon).
Practice RICE. Rest, Ice (indirect, 20 minutes on every few hours), Compression, Elevation. Don't use heat until any and all swelling is gone and you can put full weight on it. Heat will help promote healing as it will increase the blood flow but you don't want to use it while you still have swelling.
