I'm seeing my OBGYN today, and I'm going to mention how stressed out and snappish/angry I've been. It's been ongoing, probably over a year, so I won't be surprised if he rec's some kind of meds. I've never taken them before, so I wanted to see what people's experiences with them have been. I have the (I'm sure common) fear that if I go on them, I'll never go off them and will permanently mess up my brain chemistry or something.
What do you take? Are you glad you're on it? Side effects? Any details are seriously appreciated.

Yes. Lexapro. No side effects.
If you needs drugs, you need drugs. If you had any other illness, you wouldn't hesitate to take drugs for it, would you? Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
My doctor told me that, with depression, you can generally have up to 3 bouts of it before they recommend staying on drugs permanently.

Currently, I am on Zoloft and Xanax. I was weaned off of Abilify a couple months ago (once thing they don't tell you when they add it to your list of meds is that Abilify will make you gain weight. HOLY FUCKING HELL. I gained 30+ pounds. I was/am so pissed because I was down to my pre-baby weight before my suicide attempt).
Zoloft has zapped my libido, but I don't think I had much of one before, and I'm also a mom, lol, so I think that also has something to do with it.
Xanax, I've read, can be addicting, but I'm on a half of the lowest dose they offer, and I've really noticed a difference in my anxiety since starting to take it every day instead of ''as needed'' when I first started it.
