Mine is today as well, but it's not an Ultrasound appt (I have to wait another month for that one - wah). My receptionist said that we will go over family history and talk about any questions H and I have for them.

Mine was last week and it was pretty uneventful - did vitals, family history, urine and bloodwork, stuff like that. Doctor did an exam, asked us what questions we had. Gave an EDD (which I already knew though). Got a bunch of info from the hospital and samples of all kinds of PNV (which she gave me even though I've been taking them for almost a year). No u/s yet for us, we get it at the next appt.
I too have to wait until 10-12 weeks. I do have a pre appointment Nov 29th where I get to meet and talk to my midwife and see the birth center. But my real first appointment probably won't be to early December. I am pretty sure it won't be a U/S. Hopefully by this point I can hear the babies heartbeat with the doppler. I just have to trust my body is doing what it's supposed to. Crossing my fingers.

Well you and I can just twiddle our fingers and wait together! I just feel like I'm not officially pregnant until a medical professional tells me so.

Thanks for asking this! I have my first appointment next week, the Dr. said at 6 weeks they will do an U/S, mine may have been pushed sooner because I have had two serious endo surgeries, but I'm not sure the front desk staff have access to that info or not. I called last week and said I had taken a HPT and got a positive result so I needed to schedule and they got me in right away! I don't think I could handle waiting until my first trimester was almost up.

The waiting is the hardest part. But's it's my chosen path. I could have gone back to the crazy doctor/practice that delivered DD and get a "dating" u/s like what everyone else is doing. But to me it would go against to my plan of doing a all natural birth. I have some mantra's I read all the time to keep myself positive. (I have had a missed m/c w no bleeding at 11 wk..and a scary SCH with a ton of bleeding but a successful birth) I will wait patiently to hear that heartbeat.
I went to my first appt at 6 weeks and they did a pee test/blood work to verify pregnancy and ask basic questions, give me estimated costs, etc. I had a second appt at 8 weeks that was a dating u/s (which was not up my vagina whooo!) and my yearly examine, including bloodwork and STI testing. I have been coming in every 4 weeks to give urine and hear heartbeat on the doppler and in 2 weeks at 20 wks I will have the A/S. I made the choice not to do the N/T scan and CF blood test bc that's not included in our global billing and we will not meet our deductible this year so would have had to pay out of pocket for it and it wouldn't have made a difference either way.

My first appointment was just going over medical history with a nurse. I had another appointment the next week (at almost 9 weeks) and they weighed me, did blood pressure, peed in a cup (those three things they do every month), I had a pap, dating u/s, then we sat down with the doctor and she explained how the rest of my pregnancy would hopefully go appointment-wise and told me about stuff I should and shouldn't do. She talked to me about the NT scan, and I got some b/w drawn. Good luck today!

I was pretty shocked when I called my doctor and found out that they won't see me until I am about 10 weeks along. Their policy seemed strange, but the receptionist said they don't schedule anyone until after their 2nd missed period and for me, that means 10 weeks since my cycles are about 42 days long.
Meanwhile, I am trying not to go crazy. I mean, I know I'm pregnant and everything, but there's something about seeing the heartbeat and having the doctor confirm it that makes it seem so much more real.
It sounds like I am not the only one in this situation, so it's nice to know that it's common for them to wait, but it still stinks.
