The other day I did post in the GTKY thread (and a question), but I figured it'd be nice to do an official intro, before just asking everyones opinions on everything ;D
I'm NLfoodie, as my user name suggests, I live in the Netherlands - Amsterdam to be precise. DH and I are of very mixed descent. (When we have a baby I hope to be able to raise him/her tri-lingual. ;D )
And that's how I got here. We've started trying. We kept having tons and tons of reasons why we shouldn't start TTC right that moment. First sell a house, first complete project this, then there was project that, then there was a health issue, then there was another project. Eventually I figured that the way this was going we were never going to start TTC. Which got me sad and depressed to the point that a pregnancy or birth announcement had me cry half the evening.
So finally DH agreed with me that there was never going to be a perfect time where every project is finished and no one is sick and no one has other stuff going on. Conclusion, there's no time like the present and we're trying. I'm taking my PNVs and have decided to drink (and take meds) 'til it's pink!
I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that we won't have to try too long. Not only because of age (I'm 32, DH is 41), but also my health. I have a genetic kidney disorder (dominant, so 50 percent chance I pass it on). While the disorder isn't life threathening and merely annoying, it does mean that the only way I can carry a child is if I get pregnant without any dr's assistance. (Injecting me with hormones is a big no-no!)
Besides here, I hang out on International Living (hi crimson!) I don't have any pets, at the moment my big hobby is trying to grow vegetables in my small urban yard, but ask me again when the seasons change.
And I guess that's all I have to tell you right now.
One question for the non-newbies and/or graduates. I'm in the 2WW of my first cycle trying. Will the 2WW keep feeling like 5 months in later cycles, or is this a beginner thing??
BFP1: DD born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w3d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
Welcome! I personally felt like the 2ww lasted longer when we first started trying but that's just me. As time went on I also found more things to occupy my time so that can be why I feel it goes quicker.
Congratulations on 6 months smoke free! I quit 17.5 months ago, and it was the best thing I've ever done, and I can appreciate how difficult it is, so you deserve to feel awesome about your self!
