What is a reasonable price for felt?

Felt comes a variety of ways. So really, your best bet is to set a budget first, then buy. I mean you can get wool felt in 5 inch squares that will cost you out of the ass. Or you can get Joann's felt off the bolt that's like .74/yd with a coupon. And anywhere in between.

If you use cheap joanns felt, I suggest fusible interfacing. That shit stretches, the felt I mean. Back it up with the interfacing and it will be better.

I'm loosely following these directions- they say two yards per stocking? No, wait, it says 18x18. So, if I get 3 yards, that's the length of the fabric, right? What's the width?

Felt is typically wider than any other fabric on a bolt. I got 2 5/8 yards at Joann's for under $3 three weeks ago

A yard off a 72" bolt of felt should get you 8 18 inch pieces.

In a word, it's a backing that gives your shit stability. You just iron that crap on and proceed.

But that's if you expect to put stuff in there and hang it up. Or rather heavier stuff.
