Spill it. I'm the worst ever when it comes to gift-giving, but I need something special this year. What are you guys doing, and what's your suggestion for me?
i just picked a joby thingamajig thats an adjustable tripod that you attach to your camera that i got at REI. i usually don't give father's day gift but i thought my FIL would appreciate this, headed to visit them tomorrow so will be an early surprise.

I'm going to order a cute outfit for M to wear (something along the lines of "Happy Father's Day, Daddy!"), get him something fun (like a BluRay he's been wanting), and take him out for dinner sans-baby (I hope I can get a sitter!).

I don't know!!! My dad is the worst to buy for, but I think I'm going to order him a canvas photo of my sister and myself. It's been a while since he's had a photo of just my sis and me (without the grandkids), and I bet he'd like it.
James, I really want to do something special for him, because he's a great dad, yes, but I feel like he's really put in a lot of effort for our family work-wise lately, and I want him to feel really appreciated. I am at a total loss, though. He wouldn't like a "sentimental" gift like a photo book or anything like that, but I can't think of any material type gift that he's been longing for. UGH! IDK.
My dad sucks to buy for. We always end up getting him something golf related. My folks are re-doing their kitchen (it was original to when they built their house in 86) and my dad is stoked to have a bar, so maybe something for the bar?

Don't know about my dad, but for h I'm going to get him one of three things.
1) pay for the tattoo he wants to get to honor bkb 2) kindle fire 3) Diablo 3
it will depend on how broke I feel when it gets closer. For my dad I'm thinking a movie gift card, so him and my mom can go out. I need to ask my mom for ideas.

Well, no kids here yet, so no gifts between W and I for Mother's/Father's Day.
For Dad, my sister and I are going to get something nice with a lot family photos on them. For Christmas we got them a puzzle collage. Not sure what we'll do this year, coffee mugs?

Jenn- I want to give him the tattoo but I don't think he knows what design he wants to do, which means he might not go out and do it. I need to do some digging to figure out if he's ready to pull the trigger or not.
Oy, Dad's seem the hardest. My dad just appreciates time rather than items, so I try to do something for him that's "spending time together." Gift cards for the movies are good as he and his wife enjoy going to those. Otherwise, I'll try to think of something to make a gift cert for "Father/Daughter time".
My stepdad is really in to flavored vinegars, so I think we'll swing by Oil & Vinegar and find him some new goodies.
FIL, I leave that up to H, usually some books or something.
For JL's Hubby, it's sentimental, but something we all loved when my sister did for us. She went to a Paint Your Own Pottery place and painted us all a plate, bowl, or mug and then put baby's little hand-prints all over it. I cherish it, little chubby fingers frozen in time and my mug has little notes saying "I <3 Auntie!"
i'm horrible at gifts too. i'm seriously considering give my dad toilet paper.. he's doing bad moneywise and this is something i know he can use. lol. it seems crappy but my dad would love this gift. no pun intended.. sorta.

For a while the most gifted baby gift on Amazon was diapers, because Amazon's price was good, and everyone knows that the parents will use it instead of some random toy or clothing that might not fit or whatever.
Giving TP is like the grown-up version of diapers. I love it.
Oh and I suggested we get FIL a nice hiking backpack because that's what he takes to travel (they travel a lot) and he was just complaining about how his only has one big compartment and he was trying to borrow DH's but it was the same style.
