I'm computer slow and I don't know why I do or don't want to have an external memory option on my e-reader.
is it so you can have more books but just store them on the card instead? is if for sharing books with other people?
help?
oh also - how big is your 'typical' book? do you just remove a book after you read it or is there enough space for you to be a electronic book hoarder?
ALSO:
what's with the "free 3G includes sponsers and screensavers"
is that code for: we will give you 3G but we're going to blow your ass up with annoying adds all day long?
I think Kindles hold something like 3000 books, so I haven't worried about it. Sometimes I return them, sometimes I keep them on my Kindle. I didn't even know external memory was an option.
You are very unlikely to fill up your internal memory anytime soon if you're just reading regular books.
If you're looking at the Kindle with ads, my understanding is that the screensaver images are advertisements. It's not supposed to be too intrusive, but I'm a Nook girl and can't speak from personal experience. I don't think there are pop-ups while you're reading or anything.
I honestly have over 100 books on my kindle and haven't even begun to approach the limit. I've used like 15% of the total space available and I've had my kindle for over 2 years. AND my kindle is old - the new ones have twice the amount of memory.
If you fill a kindle, you can take the old books off and store them in your amazon "cloud." Then you can just download them on your reader (or to your computer or phone) whenever you need them. I actually like that option more than shifting them to external memory. I might lose a thumb drive.

I have a Kindle with ads and they really don't bother me at all. Basically, the screensaver has an ad on it and at the very bottom of home screen there's an ad. Typically, the ads are amazon local deals or similar types of deals. Occasionally, they'll be a discounted book (often the daily deal) or offers for $3 free Amazon music or things like that. Once you open a book there are no ads within the book, so it doesn't bother me at all and was worth the discount.
