It's done, and it only took my H 10 days!! And he wonders why I want to hire other stuff out
If you recall, I couldn't find out the right size for our opening. The one we got for about $10 off the shelf at Home Depot was about 1/4" too wide. So my H had to shave 1/8" off each baseboard.
We have plaster and lath and where you see the screw hanging out, the lath was bent so it wasn't anchoring into the wall. We also had to add a wood block to the lath so the new one would screw in.
Full disclaimer - the before it's the same vent, it's from my living room, but the original looked exactly like that. It was originally metal painted white and all bent like that.

Tonight we're getting ceiling paint (flat SW Alabaster), trim paint (semi gloss Alabaster), and going to start on our bathroom. Already purchased BM Revere Pewter.
I'll try not to be too hasty and actually get before pictures this time. I'm dreading it!
Looks great! This so sounds like the work at our house. Everything takes 5xs longer than it would in a newer house.
Bunny, I have to admit I'm a little sad you're moving. You and Juno are all I've got when it comes to old house quirks. Your new house will be awesome though.

I'm not sad at all! HAHA! Joking, I know I will miss this house and location.
A friend recently moved into an old house and she had a housewarming. She is SO EXCITED about their planned renovations. It just made me want to cry for them.

Me too, unless they want to win the lottery. We are to the point where I try not to touch anything, because if I do, it usually falls off. Not to mention what is probably inside the walls. *shudder*
