We're going on an rv trip this summer, trying to plan the food.
We're on a budget, so we want to pack a lunch to bring with us most of the days...we'll be going to beaches, an aquarium, a museum. Doing some walking/shopping...I just don't want to waste money in restaurants especially since my toddler won't eat much of anything anyway.
Any creative ideas?? My husband is super picky - he won't eat any form of salad, not even potato salad or pasta salad.
I am stumped after writing down sub sandwiches, pb and j, ham and cheese sandwiches, and wraps which are all just variations of the same darn thing....sigh.
Any any good ideas for simple dinners that are either a one-pot thing, or cooked over a fire.
would your DH eat a salad that doesn't look/taste like a salad? I make a lemon pepper chicken salad that has no dressing, no mayo, no pasta, just chicken, potatoes, artichokes, peppers, etc. it's more like a cold casserole?
We can't take meat across the border, so everything has to be cooked when we get there, so no making stuff ahead. I wouldn't fry chicken in an rv...lol
He likes meat and potatoes. For sandwiches, he will eat meat. Literally meat. No mayo, no mustard, no cheese or lettuce...just meat on bread. If it has mayo, won't touch it. He likes pizza, steak, and potatoes, rice....fruit. Hates eggs. Hates pasta.
My daughter is just like him. She won't touch pasta, rice, or potatoes. She doesnt eat most veggies, only likes eggs scrambled. This is really hard!!!
I'll ditto a lot of Wop said. Since you have to stick to basics have you considered just packing the same lunch over and over for your H and daughter and then making whatever you want so you're not bored. I do that sometimes. My H isn't overly picky but he has preferences for sure (or at least more than I do) however, he will gladly eat the same thing for days and not care. Me, I get bored really easily. It might be a bit more work but it would keep you all happier.
Also, to save money on restaurant food, I'd check out a local grocery store for options. Yes, you'll have to pay but it'll be tons cheaper and you can share easier esp. with your daughter. I know ours does fun "lunch of the day" "snack of the day" etc. and it's great. I find lots of fun things there. If nothing else grab a fruit tray. H and I do these when we travel as it's a bit cheaper and we can both get what we want.

I would be all "make him eat it or make something else himself!" but I'm totally your husband. I mean, not as bad (I like condiments and veggies to an extent) but still picky.
I can't believe you can't bring meat over the border. Weird!!
